Given the way things are going with this government, plenty will be happy to gain shelter UNDER that pier, and no sympathy from the ruling powers.

You mean but for a Government that gained no majority and a minor party selling their souls for a chance of power?

Oh dear, roll on the next, very soon, election.

Why not? it took them 13 years, how long for the present lot to leave us with no work force or future work force to repay such debts?

You have raised a vital point that must be an urgent item on the next meeting of the Leaders Policy Development Board (ie the high powered body that spends its time discussing Mayoral protocol and whether the Wardens go before the Home Guard in the Oswaldtwistle Remembrance Day procession)

When (if, at all) during the Annual Meeting of the Council does the old Leader hand over the Leaders medal to the new leader?

Is it

a) Before or after the installation of the Mayor?
b) Before or after the installation and swearing in of the new councillors? or
c) Before or after the presentation of the cheque for the refreshments to the member for Baxenden?

It is an important constitutional issue in the current climate of cuts.

As I understand any award which is for a certain office should be handed back before the next election for the holder of that office. Not being well up in politics I don't know whether a) or b) is relevant in this situation, will the election of the Mayor affect who is the leader?

If c) is the case then where do I go for my free butties.

Finally, someone with a grasp of Economics, esp. the function of the wage earner in a consumer economy:alright: The krauts got it right; that's why they can afford to bail out the EU all by themselves if they had to. Maybe that's how they will do it: buy Europe instead of fighting for it. That way they wouldn't need the funny hats and the silly walk and all those bodies to burn.
