On a similar note should I give back the key to Rhyddings Park as it was made for and paid for by HBC?

I don't want to be accusing of hanging onto Council property :D

You're still part of Friends of Rhydding Park though, are you not? You still maintain a useful function within the park and perform the role that earned you your key?

Conversely, I think you'll find that similar criteria for Peter owning his medal have now expired.

Stop it before I spit coffee over my keyboard, sorry I was having a laugh, you would laugh to if you saw the key I am taking about.

Personally I think this medal is such a non issue it is not worth talking about. Sort out the important things in Hyndburn and don't waste time on things that make it look like your just trying to poke at the opposition, something you accused the Torys of when you were in opposition.

I would be very interested to know what your policies are regarding green spaces in the borough, that is not for this thread though.

To be fair, it was me who resurrected the Leaders Medal discussion yesterday, not Ken. And I have no political axes to grind.

It is precisely because it is so unimportant that I raised it. It reflects the overblown sense of self importance that power can bring.

I think it was an attempt at satire! :o

Leave it!

Neil, as Gynn bumped the thread in such an admirably tongue-in-cheek way I would have hoped the sarcasm of the overblown reaction would have appealed to you.

The medal isn't important but I'm currently revelling in bruising a ruddy big ego.

The sarcasm button must not be working today, Jay old mate, I knew you were having a laugh!

Alas, it has been several years since anything grew on my dome.

I don't understand sarcasm, I am told its the lowest form of wit used by the lowest form of people and I am far to polite to argue with my wife :D:D

Then don't and prove you are better than lowering yourself to such playground activities.
I am hopefully waiting to see the wonderful things you will do for our community without resorting to political bickering.

You're quite right of course Neil, simply couldn't resist in this instance.

We're now entering a new period in which we have the opportunity to put right a lot of the things we've attacked in the past. Some things will be easy to remedy, others will take considerable time.

Either way, positive steps are the only way forward.

Re: The Leaders Medal

Did we ever establish what happened to the Leaders Medal?

Was there a ceremonial handing over of the medal at the Council AGM, along with the mayoral robes, the mace and the chains of office?

I saw Miles a couple of weeks ago and I dont remember seeing a yellow ribbon on his chest. Is he hiding his light under a bushel, or is the medal safely stored in the Town Hall as a lasting treasure for future generations?

We need to know.

He will have tied his yellow ribbon to an oak tree, hoping for a return.

I always thought Britcliffe commissioned and paid for the medal himself so would belong to him and no need to hand it over on leaving .?
I might be wrong though i am wrong sometimes not very often though:D:p

No idea where the medal is. I somehow don't think you're likely to see Miles wearing it.
