Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
yes mick you are right,in the late 50,s and early 60,s the motorcycle AA men used to indicate a speed trap by putting up their right hand like a red indian how sign,as they had big white leather gloves on this was always seen by the oncoming motorist, the practise was stopped in 1965 when the police warned them that they would take serious action if they did not stop this practise, hope this helps

Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
the device used is not a hand held camera but an infra red radar that sends a light source to your vehicle and this bounces back to the machine off your car and the speed is calculated by the time it takes for the beam to return to the machine, easy if you know how and then the police car further up the motor way stops you, SIMPLES

Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
So next time I see an old lady about to be mugged, I won't step in and stop the attack because I'll be obstructing the police in the course of their duty to apprehend the mugger.
At the point of me flashing a warning, the other motorist may not yet have committed the offence, as speed cameras are often sited at a point just after the speed limit changes down. If I can prevent them from committing the offence, I am performing a civic duty. I repeat. The CPS should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.:rolleyes: |
Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
When I was driving I used to flash other motorists all the time not so much for speed cameras, but police in lay bys. Its not the first time some one has been done for this, its happened before and it will happen again

Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
as i seem to recall from the original post,it was,nt a speed camera he was warning motorists about it was a mobile speed gun, there is a big diference,as a speed camera is not classed as or has never been a policeman, the point is he warned other motorists about an officer of the law using a speed gun, thus interfering or obstructing a police officer whilst said police officer was doing his duty, please read the original post,as it clearly says speed camera

So glynn if a child or relative of yours was knocked down by a speeding car,or a car going over the prescribed speed limit would it be your civic duty to pick that dead person up or go and tell their parents that he or she was dead. |
Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
What a load of rubbish.
So are the police there to just make money? So what if someone was warning the cars to slow down, at least they did what its all supposed to be about didnt they? Slowing the motorists down? |
Re: Man caught warning motorists of speed camera is fined
Where the speeding "limits" not set in the 60's sometime... when ABS, ESP, TCS and other brake distribution controls where a mere pipe dream...
Cars stop in almost half the time of the highway code these days... Its all part of the "nanny" state we live in... And yes in a 30 zone where its built up then by all means stick to or near the limit but I bet you a pound to a penny, not ONE person on here who drives has never broke the limit... not ONE.... |
