I suspect Alan 7554 might just be a traffic Police man... the way he qoutes the highway code and other things seem to suggest an easy knowledge of the subject and the law.

There was an expert on the radio saying that he made the mistake of defending himself. If he'd used a lawyer they would have raised the case mentioned above and the prosecution would have been thrown out. Isn't he appealing? If he does and uses a lawyer he will probably win, but how much is it going to cost him?

Maybe, but if this IS the case then he should also know that driving "swift" is safe in some scenarios...

So Mr.Thompson wasbreaking laws because Plod didn't sanction his goodly intentions, but oh if they had ...... well that would've been OK then ?

Do the Police really think that they are going to stop drivers speeding or should i say " Driving to the roads and drivers safe ability" If not then it is just a money making scheme .

Yes, you could well be right.
It was the 'ploddish' way he wrote that made me think 'policeman'.

How can it be my fault if I am slowing down 20 yards from traffic lights and an old chap walks out from behind a park truck in front of me.

the other was a 3 year old girl playing on the street while mummy was in the house. Even the Police man said she was an idiot for letting her play out. She was really lucky. I saw her walking towards the footpath edge and was braking before she stepping into the road. I only just touched her (still not sure if I did ) and she fell in front of the car in the road.

The old man was on the bonnet, walking sticks and hearing aids all over the place :eek:
