If someone's prepared to stake out the new attraction, they might get a shot of Big Issue Darlin', squattin' over the ladies pot.

Showing just how desperate the facilities are needed.

It brings to mind those citizen smith episodes tho think they should bring it back and include this real sketch who'd of thought it eh foxy Pmsfl :D. Of all the bum notes and our council hits the big one! Think the Market bosses need flushing out.

well just got a flyer through the door explaining the small play area/ park on street, is being refurbished. must be made nice fer all the chavs that use it frequently to sup cans. yet they close the public loos in town centre, so bus drivers, shopkeepers, n ordinary shoppers are knackered, seems priorities n hyndburn council, should not be used in the same sentence.

Just Pooh, Pooh them, treat the area with the constipation they deserve,

All together now with a rallying couple of verses of the favourite protestors song.

Well I'm on my way t' toilet,
We shall not be moved.
On my way to th' crapper
We shall not be moved,
Just like the pee that's standing in the toilet bowl,
We shall not be moved.

(next verse please)

Won't make any difference, public opinion is water off a duck's back with this council. Next plan is for them to close on Sunday's then it will be all week.

If we get a Labour council in May no doubt they will ignore it as a past issue

that is one of the funniest things ive seen in a long time, but seriously closing the toilets, do we all have to "spend a penny" in the drain like we did as a kid, or do we send HBC our cleaning bills if we just cant cross our legs any longer and have a little accident!! Or if we're passing any of the council buildings can we call in and ask to use their toilets??

Unless people actually complain to the council it will be laughed off by those responsible. After all they don't spend all day in town so it really doesn't make much difference to them

Surely there should be no problem for bus drivers? Given their occupation, they should be covered under the ancient statutes of Waggoners Rights. So if they do need a pee, they can do so quite legally providing they do it against the front offside wheel.

I think if they want do do something else, they have to use the horse bag.

It is a money saving excercise that they are legally allowed to do, but it will reduce the number of people (especially older people with 'old bladders') visiting the town centre.

British Toilet Association: News from the BTA

The previous government considered, but failed to implement, a proposal that provision of public toilets should be a statutory duty of local councils.

Sent my complaint in, think the decision is ludicrous:mad: Counted no fewer than a dozen people heading to the toilets in a very short space of time today. The sooner they are reopened on Monday's and Wednesday's the better IMHO

The law allowing bus drivers to urinate on the rear offside wheel was revoked in the early nineties. The only reason we found out about it was when a driver was prosecuted and as part of his sentence, he was made to sign the sex offenders register.

One of the points we are trying to make. It's bad enough trying to make a living here without another building being locked up even if it is only a loo.

De-contamination, if PB was unfortunate enough to find himself rubbing shoulders with the Hoi Polloi when taking a short cut through the market hall in his rush to have his piccy taken for the local rag he can nip in there and remove the risk of disease.

Rumour has it there is a secret door connected where he stores replacement disinfected suits and an incinerator to destroy what he was wearing.

Further rumour says that when a Council middle management official suggested that the heat generated could be used to warm the sports centre, he was never seen again!

Protective Marking: UNCLASSIFIED
Many thanks for your query dated 1.2.11.

We are in the process of re-locating the public toilets at Peel Street to
new improved toilet and disabled facilities in the adjacent newly refurbished Market Hall.

To clarify matters, Peel Street toilets are not being completely
closed and remain open on the main trading days of Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday meaning
there are extra facilities available on these busy days.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these changes.

Looks like we all got the same reply  so if you use the peel st bus services or trade monday, wednesday and sunday you have to use the market, lose business or miss buses to take a long walk and possibly queue for a widdle - great use for the public is that!! All so that the market can justify its white elephant expensive existance and keep one cafe owner happy at the expense of the outside traders and general public - it stinks!!

Friday 9.30am-4.30pm
Saturday 9.30am-4.30pm

You can't help wondering if someone had opened their business in one of the many empty properties that line the town centre streets, there perhaps wouldn't have been the same fiasco, about enforced six day trading, and the closure of the toilets, except those up stairs in the Market Hall.

obvioulsy somone at the council has a disliking for parents with children and enjoys making them clamber upstairs with children and a pram unless of course nappy changing facilities are provided on the upstairs cafe's tables on route to the toilets.

how dare somebody with kids expect to have groundfloor access to toilets with changing facilities in a town center

The baby changing facilites are downstairs in the market hall. I've not been in but I'm sure the door says Disabled & Baby Changing so guessing it's a shared toilet.

I used the toilets in the Market Hall on saturday and all but 1 of the toilet seats in the ladies were either on the floor or on the shelf behind the loo. All were very obviously broken which meant if you didn't want to sit on the actual porcelain bowl then you had to queue for the one toilet with a seat on. I did notice too that the seat that was still attached was the wrong size and shape for the bowl it was attached too!!!

Fully agree .

Looks like you backed the wrong horse, all those years taking time off work canvassing for the wrong party, instead of working towards a decent retirement.
Still, they do say we get our rewards in Heaven, (may I suggest you get there before P.B. otherwise he'll have you spending your time trying to convince God he shouldn't be a stoker?).

I'm actually sure that come May things will change overnight when the Caped Crusader sweeps in from Rishton, all the toilets will be open 24/7 all bowls will have seats on them, it will be the land of milk and honey;)

Never had one minute of work Less until I was struck down by illness, so was never able to save for retirement. I work 7 days a week 14 hours a day, I didn't pack my job in because it was interfering with political work, as one chap once put it, in fact I only really got involved in politics when I moved back to Ossy in 86 and that was at the request of Ken Hargreaves, althoiugh I've always been a tory and a party member until last April:)

What a shame, all that loyalty gone to waste, I believe you with the above, you have always been a loyal party member and good friend to PB.
Even though he and the party haven't been to see you in How long?
They could at least drop off a couple of old newspapers now and then, hang on though, what is the value of scrap paper?
Best keep it for themselves!

With respect I can't imagine a highly positioned employee would be telling lies

We are in the process of re-locating the public toilets at Peel Street to
new improved toilet and disabled facilities in the adjacent newly refurbished Market Hall.
Therefore I suggest as an ordinary resident of Hyndburn you must be the one telling porkies ;):p

You could always apply for funding to erect a statue, sited over the doorway to Scaitcliffe House.

Oh, don't forget to say you'll also need money for a funnel, and enough hosepipe to stretch from your shops.

Here's a mathematical formula for you:

If:

a = cost of excess butties at council meetings

b = cost of flash mobbing

c = cost of Leaders medal

and

d = marginal cost of keeping open Peel Street Bogs

Then is a+b+c < or > d

Answers, please.

To a thick pleb like me I am sure there is not a full time job in looking after one set of toilets so why cant the same attendant look after 2 sets?

Leave both open and better serve the public.

I would like to hear the official reason why Peel street are not open at the same time as the market hall ones.

On this occasion I will have to disagree with you being a thick pleb :D

There is no reason they can't be open. The toilets haven't had attendants for months now, they are based in the Market Hall. The shutters are opened early in the morning by the porters from the market, the attendants don't start work until 9.30am. The toilets are checked at the most twice a day which hardly takes any time. Even when the attendants were based at Peel St there were days they weren't checked if the attendant on duty that day was off sick.

The decision has been made purely to increase the footfall in the market. Serving the public is not an option for elected councillors these days.
