Demolished houses on Hyndburn Road

Does anyone know what's happening to the land in the Regeneration Area on Hyndburn Road next to Matalan where all the houses have been demolished? We have enquired if there has been a planning application submitted for a mosque and as yet that seems not to be the situation. The Council's preferred option for the use of the land is to support and facilitate the development of a new mosque and community centre. We, ABARA have been told that prior to any planning application being submitted, the council require a further public consultation, this time organised in conjunction with the mosque committee. Can anyone enlighten us as to what is going to happen with this land?

I believe the Council have agreed to sell the land for £175,000 to the Mosque Committee. That was the last I heard.

As far as I know the plans are near to dead in the water. there was some major issue with cars possibly parking on hyndburn road and it was stuck there.

i dont even think any plans have been even drawn up yet. i've not seen plans etc nor any footprints etc

The houses were empty and the streets were beginning to attract gypsies and i'm sure the arsonists wouldnt have been far behind. I've got a feeling they'll just level them and place huge bollards to stop any vehicles coming onto the land for the time being.

Is that all the land is worth? I would have thought it was worth more than that.

Outrageous! I understand Abara REQUESTED a meeting with HBC and a Mosque Committee representiative over 12 months ago. Cllr MP facilitated the meeting but the HBC and Mosque rep said they could only stay for half hour! Is PB getting the deal done for votes?

MANI.... i share your sorrow. I lost one of my favourite actors this year .... Pete Postlethwaite.

If you dont like what is happening you have 3 options in my simple way of seeing it.

1. Do something about it.
2. Do nothing
3. Just moan about it

Which one will you be choosing 1, 2 or 3?

No, you chose to moan on accyweb, not the right people at all.

Also what you're moaning about is rubbish, so far we've been given no plans, dates or anything substantial, anyway, just a thought why is it so bad? How long is it since the so called 'Christians', spent anything on a new Church, I think the last one mentioned on this site was Sacred Heart when it was being demolished.
If you want to stop a mosque, get together with a few like minded folk and offer more for the land and you pray for peace.
