In fairness I suspect what the common people know is not the same as what councillors get told by a person in a paid position. Maybe having been made to look foolish the councillors concerned may look at these issues in a new light I'm not Gary's source though having known for nearly a week what happened I've sat here bemused as to why the 'official' answers have been what they are. Time to wake up and smell the coffee councillors  |

All I will say is it wasn't a Labour councillor, either. :D |

It was suggested that the social scientist, who carried out this 'experiment', or those who tried to defend it, might not yet know, as to the fate of the benches they ordered the removal of. Which excuses nothing. Other than make the whole episode look even more shambolic. As well as being a totally illogical way to tackle a problem. Pathetic episode all round. |

Nothing.
Searching scrap yards, eBay, reclamation sites, Whinney Hill, all day. Nowt. So far. |
Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
Somewhat ironically, it was whilst stood in Accrington, that someome who knew the fate of these benches, and who has been following this fiasco, came up and gave me the information, that they are no longer the property of the council, after someone phoned up, and got the gypsies to come and take them away.
I was so flabbergasted, I could have done with a seat, after being told the true story. |

Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
Maybe there is a “silver lining” here.
At least one bench was corroded and weak, I imagine the other wasn’t far behind. Better to have found out whilst it was being moved ( for whatever reason) than to have had it collapse whilst in use. We might get some sturdy new benches and I’m sure some folk will have learned lessons along the way. |

Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
Though it was patiently explained to us, that after this experiment, 'they' would be returned to their original site.
No mention of the Health & Safety issues then, or they would have stated 'some' benches will replace them. |
