Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
Interesting issue from the council meeting this week.
Motion by Cllr Ken Moss who wants fixed penalty notices of up to £1,000 for dog fouling. Support from Labour colleagues, but currently top fine is £75 Cllr Clare Pritchard wants PCSOs to issue the fines Amazing that we can't enforce the issue of alchohol free zones in a small area like the town centre yet the police are going to trawl the borough looking for dogs crapping  |
Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
Spoke to a Market Hall trader yesterday, who used to grab five minutes rest on the benches.
He knew one of the benches was broken beyond repair, whilst being removed for this experiment. Not too chuffed, to put it mildly, when told the benches had been offered by the powers to be to some gypsies, who had then driven them away. Gone forever...but not forgotten. ;) |

Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
so let me get this right
a person who gets a bit rowdy celibrating christmas at the evening will be barred from town center both day and night and an alcholic dosser can swear, swig booze and dance round like a moron infront of children, the elderly and people trying to shop without fear of punishment ? Maybe this council thinks the best way to cut down on town center spending is to have no one visit it and have them go to places where they are wanted. if only we had a regular poster from the labour party to explain things nice and clear like the one who used to explain tory policies to us  |

Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
It will make a change to see a copper anywhere near the town centre when and if they are needed. They are usually to busy hiding in vans, cars, police stations and the like to be of any use.Or picking on soft targets like the motorist or to be fair to them having their hands tied by red tape and time taken up by paperwork.

I think I've discovered an advantage of your "political" style of council ... it's way more entertaining than ours, which only occasionally splits along ideological lines.;) |
Re: HBC have taken away the benches from outside the market
