The Facebook page has the news that removal of the (on surface) waste has begun, and the lorries are going up New Lane and joining the motorway, ie. not using Union Rd.

Agreed. There'd be more of an outcry if Peter Britcliffe wasn't leading the campaign to get this issue resolved.

Seeing as he's an Oswaldtwistle councillor, and lives just over the fields from where this stuff was dumped.

Exactly.

This particular Rishton councillor has already been onto it, a couple of complaints from the Southside estate but it's little (if anything) to do with Oswaldtwistle, merely flies and midges rising from the canal and surrounding fields.

Hot weather + heavy showers = plenty of the little buggers.

I've not been over to Nook Lane regarding their issue but I feel for the residents, must be awful right now.

Some moron set 50 bales alight last night, so the attendance of the fire brigade delayed the start of today's removal operations.
