Lol as I said, I wouldn't know I'm too rubbish to sum that up :)

Lol I guess so-but then I have a calculator on my 'phone for such purposes (I don't even always need to use it)!

I have one of them between my ears SM:rolleyes:had it for years and it doesn't need charging every night either;)

Are you showing off over my incompetence Mister :D;)

No, basic Maths yes, we all need that for shopping, bills, work, insurance quotes, life generally I agree.

Why algebra, which is the only example I can think of at the moment, as well as the bunch of other things I was taught that I remember but I can't name, that I've never needed to use, why is it emphasised that a good grade in Maths, being good at all these things, is supposedly important for someone's future, that's what I meant :)

Aside from my worrying about Maths, the only time it affected me when I wanted to do Psychology at 'A' level as you needed a grade C or above.

I blagged my way onto the course and ended up also doing it at degree level... I wouldn't say I found it easy, and sometimes I had to ask for help with the more Mathematical bits, but only for reassurance and no more than most other students.

Thanks for the homework, Less!

I am now wondering how on earth I've survived all these years without applying this long-forgotten knowledge :)

Without that fella you'd be in a rightangle.

I did try to retake my GCSE Maths, once. I was kicked out though- one too many infractions.

I always had trouble wi yon mons theorem, I solved the problem by drawing the triangle and measuring it with a ruler. Saved a lot of head scratching, and was a dammed sight easier.

I think you under estimate just how much you use things like algebra, most of us will use it on a regular basis.
A quick example -
You are in the pub, you have £20 to spend on drinks, drinks cost £4 each, how many drinks can you afford.

When I was an apprentice my gaffer reckoned his wages up in pints, beer were a shilling a pint then.

I bet he thought he couldn`t do algebra either, just shows how good you really are at it if you don`t even know your doing it.
