A recommendation from a fellow professional drinker and a "deep ender", no less! That'll do me, Jay! ;)

No, how about Moorhouses Pride of Pendle? I like that one but they have about another 5 'real ales', all good ones. New ones in regularly.

Checked today(purely for research you understand), they haven't knocked the penny off, still £2.10 so I only had one pint.

What's 'rocket fuel'? Some sort of cider?

Well, if the place is that good and you only have one pint. How many of us can you fit into your car?

Please remember, when you organise this trip out, we will need toilet stops on the way back...

...and they had better have as good a choice of ale!
:D

I can understand your fear of Maths . It's very much a black and white thing . The answer to a calculation is either right or wrong , and this transfers into all branches of Maths .

In English , however , it is not so black and white . There are shades of grey . If you write a poem there is no right or wrong marking at the end of it as there is in Maths .

Which is why I hated English so much, you write an essay or poem and you get a crap mark, someone sat next to you gets a good mark and there`s no definite answer as to why.
Just there is better.

True! I'll never be good at it but I'm not scared of numbers now. I like to think I make up for it with other things lol

I know what's meant here I think-if I can see Algebra as one way of using calculations, and how this can be related to the important times in life where Maths is needed :D
However I still do not see the point in it. When I did Maths at GCSE we'd be given a scenario such as the one you use as an example (apart from a shop and sweets, maybe, rather than a pub and pints :D ) and I wasn't so phased by those. Why there's a need to make things more complicated by adding letters is nonsensical to me!

I love Pendle. When you take this road trip for the real ales, you're putting me in the boot. :);)

1 dying thread + 1 contrary post = much more interesting thread + a trip to pendle on the cards.

Don`t you find threads where everyone just agrees a little bit boring, nothing wrong woth livening it up a little. :p

Trip to Pendle = nagging wife + spending money

much better to quantify todays calculation as

Go to pub = fun + spending money - nagging wife

Or

Don`t go to the pub = No Fun + wife spending money - nagging.

Letters are just used to represent a number that you don`t yet know, there may be an equation you use regularly, but each time the numbers used in the equation are different, each time you just replace the letter with the number.
