You ask them to speak out, but think of last December. 130+ children.. i say CHILDREN was killed in an army school in Pakistan by the taliban.... I would hazard a guess muslims are just as terrorized if not more so
|
Re: Paris Shootings.
They are terrorised by the Muttawa, the Imams, the religion and Sharia - and of course by governments or rulers., and their military.
One must take into account that they are some 600 years behind the Western World, although they have had some great scholars and scientists since the rise of Islam. East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet - Kipling 1889, could well be in the process of being proved. |

Re: Paris Shootings.
Straight into the blame game and solutions? No words for the poor innocent victims that were murdered or the familes left shattered? I expect better from a forum which boasts such a high level comments
I think,it'd be wrong for me to start posting my brain farts without saying that my thoughts are with 'all' victims of terrorism and their families including those Leb families that ISIS blew up in Beirut around the same as those in Paris. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/11/16....google.co.uk/ I noticed on the other forums that I frequent that folk were changing their pictures to show their support for those in Paris but I didn't see a option to show my support for the folk of Lebanon by changing my pic to the Leb flag or any of the numerous flags from the countries that the U.S. is terrorising. It's selective outrage driven by the media......Myself,I think near on all life is precious and all violence and killing should be condemed not promoted. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
Funny how the Western powers are quite happy to support extremist fundamentalist movements when it suits them. Like Osama bin Laden and the mujahedin who waged jihad against the USSR in the 80's with the full backing of the US and the UK. There's an even a picture of old Ronnie meeting with the mujahedin in the Oval Office. Unfortunately they later morphed into the Taliban and al-Qaida and started waging jihad against us. They obviously hadn't read the script.
Then there's the little matter of the disastrous illegal war in Iraq, led by the US with the UK trotting along behind like an obedient little poodle. It was initiated on false information, killed over one million people (including quite a few of our lads and lasses) and destabilized the whole region, creating the conditions where the likes of al-Qaida thrived, eventually leading to the creation of ISIS. I'm as angry as anybody about what happened in Paris AND Beirut AND Nigeria and all the other places, but apart from the evil, nihilistic death cult who perpetrated these acts, my venon's directed against Bush and that odious creature, Blair and all the other Western leaders whose constant meddling in the Middle East has helped to create the situation we find ourselves in today. |

Re: Paris Shootings.
Jason, how long have you been a chameleon?
You change your perspective and your opinions to suit what you think will be supported. You think that nearly all life is precious. Perhaps you should tell that to the families of those who were captured, held hostage and then beheaded as of it were some kind of sport...to be televised and shown to the world. And this is by those who would impose their brand of medieval religion on all the world. They would like us to believe that they do this for their God, but in reality they do it to show that have power. This is no different to any other power struggle in the world.....men wanting their egos massaged, to be noted in the history books. The young men who are radicalised are being brainwashed in just the same way as you tell us the media is doing in the western world. Book Haram, ISIS, Al Qaeda.....they are all the same beast. Can you tell me of any good deed that any of these have done? Have they saved children? Have they promoted the plight of women? Do they respect and promote life? No, they have not...they have brought their own kind of terror to their own race....they have slaughtered indiscriminately. They have driven people from their lands.....enslaved girls and women, stopped them from being educated....they have formed into a society which is neither fair nor civilised....and if this were no so why would so many people be risking their lives to get out of their homeland? |

You don't believe in something like that, but want to have some sort of banner on your posts to show support for a countries you feel have been affected by a western aggressor. The man in the street has very little influence over the foreign policies that their government employs. Ah, but you can say ' you voted for them'. That might be true, but how many people will ask a prospective MP about the nitty gritty of foreign policy? How many prospective MPs would be in a position to answer that question? Governments do not follow the will of the people.....if they did then Saddam Hussein would still be overseeing his country..Not dead, reviled and buried. We, the ordinary little people are pawns,in the same way as those in the countries you think can do no wrong. Those countries you see as being oppressed by the U.S. Jason, you take the biscuit for hypocrisy. |

How many of these will be a direct threat to the way you live your life? How many of them will reach into your life and steal the freedoms that our fathers and grandfathers fought for. At a guess, I would say 'none of them'. Al Qaeda, ISIS, Daish......all want to dominate the world....see you as an infidel, would convert you or kill you....there is no middle ground. They are reaching into your everyday life.....and you work with technical stuff so you surely can see how they are going to do it. |

Re: Paris Shootings.
And they are distorting the views of impressionable young people and making them believe that it is their duty to their God to wage war against non believers.
Their war is not a conventional war where they follow rules of engagement and observe the rules of the Geneva convention. Their war is one which means they infiltrate communities, get to know communities, gain the trust of communities and then annihilate them. It makes people suspicious of every Muslim, every person wearing the niqab, the jilbab is a worry.....we become concerned that because they are hiding their faces they are a potential threat to us, to those we love and this should not be so. |

I am waiting to hear how many of the Muslim countries are willing to take in the refugees from the war torn, starving, Muslim nations - countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the "Stans", Iran, Indonesia. Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Southern Phillipines, Pakistan, Afghanistan et al. Surely they have compassion for their fellow Muslims?
Perhaps I have missed it somewhere? |
Re: Paris Shootings.
These refugees reach a country with predominantly muslim inhabitants, but they set off across a stretch of water in overfilled boats which are barely safe in a swimming pool...and no one asks why?
They do not stay in this country with which they have much in common. They head for France Germany, Sweden, the UK...areas with western values which they seem to despise so much...but they choose to migrate there citing fears for their lives...a safer environment. Could it be to make colonies of muslims that will eventually impose their ideologies on those they see as infidels...to dilute the non muslim inhabitants of these countries, to weaken the fabric of their society......to gradually erode the freedoms and cultures...especially here in the UK...we must be the biggest suckers ever...afraid to call a spade a spade for fear of being branded as racists. No Barrie.... they do not want to go to these countries full of muslims...and these countries are not forthcoming about taking them in because it does not suit the plans of a world Caliphate. |

But even before that, I have no doubt checks would have been rigorous. But, while I agree with the govts. decision, I still think that Islam is a fundamentally (oops, a pun);) flawed religion. Unlike Christianity, it didn't grow up. Christianity grew out of the Crusades centuries ago. And, let's face it, not too many take it seriously any more ... altho' I'm darned sure that I'm going to request the last rites.:) One can hope that given time, Muslims in our countries will outgrow their silly beliefs, and, like us, pay only lip service to religion. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
Eric, how can rigorous security checks be made when these people have no papers or worse, faked ID documents.
Turkey is seen as a moderate country, one which tolerates other religions, but is predominantly Muslim....so why would those fleeing not settle there? In fact the parents of the little boy who drowned had lived in Turkey for four years......so they were not refugees, but economic migrants. A number of these so called refugees have been travelling on the same faked passport document(according to news reports at least 8 men with the same details, dates of birth place of birth on the passport).......you cannot be sure of the identities, or of the allegiances of these people...and they despise the westerm way of life so why come to a county whose values have nothing in common with the values that these people hold? I am suspicious of all of them.......and I am cynical about their real desires to come to Europe. They do not integrate well, they rarely learn the language......and this is from my own personal experience. Let some of the Arab nations take in these refugees......they will be much more at home in those countries. |

But I am glad such a serious situation can make you chuckle.....you must have a different handle on the situation than the rest of us...maybe you could enlighten us, then we might all get a good laugh(!). Your views about the cause and effect of the current situation are really so simplistic.......this is a multi faceted problem which has been compounded by egotistical Leaders (whose names both begin with B) who took action (which was illegal) that they were either to dumb to realise the consequences or were too egotisitical to let them cause any loss of sleep. We, the common man have no control over what these men did...and it is history. It cannot be changed. We can only ever learn from history. The sad fact is that we don't. Governements do the same things expecting a different outcome and it doesn't happen. All that happens is the population gets 'pruned'. Men and women die in the pursuit of power and to massage the egos of those who think they know best. Islam is supposed to be a religion of peace and tolerance. I don't see it...do you? What would you do about the situation with ISIS...let them walk all over you...or stand up and fight?? are you keen to live in a land which oppresses women, which rules by fear, which relies on distorted tenets.....which brainwashes its followers, expects them to do what they are bidden to live their lives in fear of dressing wrongly, of whistling, of singing, of smiling. Tell me how any of these terrorist organisations (they are all cut from the same bit of cloth and it doesn't matter what you call them ) have improved any of life for a single person in this world. I will give you some time to come up with some answers and for every one you give me I will find one that tells you of the atrocities they have committed in the name of their God. |

I'm sorry my posts seem simplistic its due to believing there is sod all we (the common folk) can do about it as it's all orchestrated by the puppet masters at the top (part of the agenda). At the end of the day,It's got sod all to do with religion, many of these 'extremists' live a variation of our western lifestyle (drink, drugs, gambling etc) and therefore they can't be classed as true Muslims even if they scream "Ali Akbar" before they blow themselves up. Perhaps I only have a superficial understanding of these things, perhaps I can only see these things through the lens of the Beano but who funds, supplies weapons and trains ISIS? Who wants us to believe that these terrorists represent Islam and Muslims? It may not of occurred to some folk but if you was from the Middle East and you was outraged by the invasions of Iraq etc what would you do?..... "let them walk all over you...or stand up and fight??" |
Re: Paris Shootings.
I did not take your post to be disrespectful at all. I just pointed out that you were putting words in my mouth.
You are right when you say that there is little that ordinary joes can do about it...and isn't that exactly what I have been saying...as for the blame game.....you got into that one yourself. When did you last see EDL behead someone and post the action onto Youtube? So, very sorry that comparison doesn't stand up to any kind of scrutiny. If you were from the middle East and you were outraged because of troops being on the ground, at least those troops could be recognised...they wore uniforms....it was categorised as a War Zone. Those folks who were out for a bit of R&R in Paris last weekend had no way of recognising their aggressors, and hence they had no way to protect themselves...they were unarmed.......so these 'fighters'(if you prefer that term to murderers) were attacking people who could not know they were under attack, had no knowledge that they were at war.......so isn't that against the Geneva convention......attacking unarmed civilians...but hey they were 'infidels' so fair game for these murderers. I have never advocated violence, but I think it is time that a definitive response was made to these actions...to cut off supplies, to seek out those providing funding and remove this at source.......for the muslim community to stand up and make sure their young men know that it is not a requirement to be a jihadi to prove you are a good muslim...and whatever we feel about religion( some people have firm beliefs and good luck to them for that) those who have made their homes in Europe and the UK are free to practise their religion without let or hindrance.......something which is denied to Christians in some arabic countries(you won't see a christian church in Saudi). If those people do not like western ways, or western culture, let them go to a country that supports their seventh century values. I think that now Russians have been violated the pace may just hot up for ISIS. You do not have to see events through the lens of the Beano, you are just as capable as I am to seek out information....goodness knows you can find links to outdated stuff for other threads. |

Yes, I read that Muslim Council of Britain were going to take out an advert.
That is good, And it is good that people put comments in their windows. What the advert says is true......the terrorists want to divide communities. There must have been people in the community of Saint Denis who knew what was going on.....when these communities report those in their midst who they suspect of planning atrocities, maiming and killing their own people...then I will have some of my faith in them restored...and I know that perhaps this seems harsh...but words, whether said or printed, are useless without some actions. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
Quote:
Your post is simplistic, it is also ill thought and puerile. It is about religion, it is about interpretation of that religion. Let me beano-ise this for you. The bible… First part is that originally we had a vengeful God, gotta be obeyed or not allowed to play in the garden, Sodom, Gomorrah, floods, eye for an eye, no false idols, plagues, sends his personal SAS to kill the first born etc..etc.. This part gets totally reversed by a carpenter who says ‘nah…my Dads ok, he’s a loving God, lets you make your own choices but he wants you to love each other, and not rip out anyones eye for clouting you, turn your cheek and let him hit you again. And over the next 2000 years, after majorly screwing up on numerous occasions, western society finally creates morals, an education system and eventually laws protecting the weak and tolerance for others based on this guys musings. Meanwhile.. the Jews don’t believe this carpenter, arrange to have him bumped off, and pretty much stick to the first part because they think they are special because a bush told them so. The koran (quran) also has two parts… First part is written in Mecca (prophet M is illiterate so he uses a scribe). He’s living in relative wealth supported by his tribe, preaches love, tolerance, peace and also throws in some things about food hygiene in hot countries from the Old Testament and gets some converts from both Jewish and Christian faiths. He upsets too many people and gets thrown out of Mecca. He moves to Medina, he’s now skint and hungry so he arranges for his gang to rob a few caravans, now these caravans are mainly Jewish, he tells his guys they are doing gods work, the locals in Medina, which at the time consisted of Arab tribes that thrived by raiding, join him and he starts to dictate to his scribe stuff about violence and aggression being ok as long as its against non believers. The prophet then says that whatever he says last supercedes anything he said earlier. So the interpretation is pretty much down to the individual Imam…and our own history shows us that when we have poorly educated people and a belief system that venerates the clergy, its very, very easy to arrange a crusade, a pogrom, a cull of indigenous natives or a jihad and get people prepared to die for a cause based on an interpretation. Finally your poorly written point about what would you do if outraged...well I wouldn't shoot unarmed civilians at a pop concert, I wouldn't rape or sell children into slavery, I wouldn't senselessly smash historical monuments, behead or crucify my enemy, strap a bomb to my chest and walk into a cafe, shoot a couple of cartoonists...if you think that is 'standing up and fighting'...you need help! |

I think that I have more chance of winning the ten million bucks in the 649 lottery tonite than I have of running into a suicide bomber with an AK. The message from the authorities should go something like: "Just go about your normal lives and let the police and armed forces deal with the problem." Maybe it's time we all stood up and said "[deleted** you mohamed and the camel you rode in on." No more tearful vigils and hugs. Maybe some innocent Muslims will suffer ... tough shiite ... but all they need to do is join the rest of us in unequivocal condemnation of this perverted version of their religion.
By the by, actually had some idiot in my local try to convince me that the terrorists are just like Japanese kamakazies . Somehow he couldn't see that there is a difference between shooting up a bunch of young folks in a nightclub, and flying into the gunfire of an Iowa Class battleship. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
Eric, I think authorities are telling people to go about their daily lives as normal.....but with the proviso that they are on their guard.......I think most people also are of the opinion that not to go about their normal daily life would be to let these murderers win.
I think that the wall to wall media coverage of events has been the sort of publicity that ISIS craves.....the oxygen of publicity is what these groups thrive on. I think it should be reported and then left alone......not examined in forensic detail.....especially when much of what is being reported is conjecture. |

So you would have been in Chamberlains camp then.
for evil to prosper all it takes is that good men stand by and do nothing. You obviously have not read the article that DinG posted a link to, or you would realise that your simplistic ideas about who caused what in the Middle East are just that...simplistic ideas worthy of a twelve year old. You do not agree with mass murder you tell us, but you perhaps would like to tell us where you stand on the capture, rape and selling into slavery yahzidi women and girls, you can countenance the murder of innocents going about their daily life in Paris. You think it is fine and dandy for there barbarians to have regular beheadings, amputation of limbs as a punishment, to have sharia law policed in a way that means human freedoms are denied. You think that this is not a form of fascism? I asked you quite a while ago what your solution would be.....I am still waiting for an answer. Do you really think that ISIS is open to diplomatic negotiation? Defeating these murderers will not be an easy task, but if you think that Russia is going to stand by while it has a passenger jet shot from the sky.....then you are nuts. The will is there to track down the supply of resources and cut them off. This is not about religion, never has been....it is about men having power over others and imposing their will on others.......and if you want to exist in such a world, I don't. I do not advocate violence, but I can see no other way of defeating those who would kill us without a glimmer of conscience. |

Jason, I am not looking for sophistication. If you knew me you would realise that I am about as sophisticated as Worzel Gummidge.
I am just looking for a balanced, informed response. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
I don't think sophistication is the issue ... one doesn't have to know anything about Maurice Gamelin, or the specifics of the military re-occupation of the Rhineland by the Wehrmacht to know that you don't need a sledgehammer to kill a flea. It's common sense. The greatest barriers I face when trying to come to terms with what to do about ISIS are my prejudices ... c'mon, we all have 'em ... I don't like Islam ... I don't trust Germany; and I think they got off too lightly for what they did last century ... I don't like the French (I think this must be genetic, bred in the bone 'cause I'm English:D) But I know that they are prejudices, and therefore not quite rational; so, the only sophistication I use is trying to get beyond them when I try to come to grips with complex problems. I also don't like tories, the EPL, JWs, born-again christians, reality shows .... the list is probably endless.;)

Oh, and I don't like vegans either:D

Re: Paris Shootings.
Eric, you are right about us all having some degree of prejudice.
Often, as you say we have no real rational basis for this....but while we can admit to these we tolerate the things that we don't much like. Tolerance is something which allows us to rub along together......although I do think that as we get older our tolerance levels get tested.....or certainly that has been my own experience. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
Tolerance ... that's what it is ... I'll try to keep that in mind the next time someone or something rattles my cage;)
Here's our plan for the coming influx of refugees in the wake of Paris. It might not be a perfect solution; but at least someone in authority has give the problem some thought. Canada's Syrian refugee plan limited to women, children and families - Politics - CBC News |

Re: Paris Shootings.
Thinking of the Canadian plan, there is a definite prejudice there, a prejudice against single young male refugees. I suppose this shows that some biases ain't all that illogical or out to lunch. But it is a clever move on the part of our government. It will probably silence quite a bit of the more vocal opposition. It's not so easy to be opposed to a women and children first policy.
One interesting point I noticed when reading the article is that as soon as they arrive the refugees will be covered by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In other words, apart from not being able to vote and being liable to deportation if they commit a crime or mess up in some similar fashion, they will be treated as Canadians. They will have the right to move anywhere they wish in Canada, the right to benefits, the right to work ... all kinds of good stuff. Even tho' I didn't vote Liberal, and probably never will, I think Trudeau (the hottest PM on the planet:D) got this one right. |

Can we exchange him for Cameron Eric?

Re: Paris Shootings.
Can anyone else not see the correlation between the countries that are,or that are helping, bombing in the Middle East and the threat from Islamic terrorism?
Is the answer:- A.Gear up for WW3 and drop more bombs Or B.Withdraw from their country and leave them to it (and join the rest of the other countries that don't have a Islamic threat). Hmmm |

Thats a right load of ScheiBe,We've had Jewish threats for donkeys years how many of them Jews have given up their Jewish brothers to the Gestapo, they wont because they are scared of Himmler, they know full well who they are even now whilst they are living amongst us. I do not see why man should not be just as cruel as nature so it's best we adopt the Adolf Hitler attitude and murder 90% of them only leaving 10% so the rest of the world can understand why. If someone doesn't act soon, by the end of the millennia the Reichstag building will be the biggest synagogue in Europe. :D |

The west,Turkey,Russia they are all part of the problem.
If you train, fund or treat the wounded of a group of "terrorists" you are part of the "terrorist problem" are you not? I just think it's worth questioning the (double) standards of those folk who are sending folk to war. "Every bomb recruits more supporters" Phyllis Bennis |

Early on in this thread you mentioned 'the blame game'....and here you are getting into that situation. None of us can alter what went before......we can only change what happens from here on in. These extremist Muslims bear a grudge for the past.....they(in many cases) cannot really remember what the grudge was, but seek revenge anyway. Do you think that people with this mentality(who see all westerners as crusaders) are fit to sit at a negotiating table and discuss diplomatic solutions. Bringing diplomacy to tribal people is futile. They neither want nor understand the concept of diplomacy. You would turn the other cheek no matter what atrocities ISIS thrust upon you.....would you? No, don't answer that for me.....it would only disappoint me again. |
Re: Paris Shootings.
if i recall correctley from my history lessons at school hitler had the hump with jews because they didnt think he was that good of an artist or painter ?
people have a problem with islam because %99 of the people who slam airplanes into buildings , blow up public transport , behead people or set fire to them and post the recordings on youtube are muslims. please dont assume that i mean %99 of muslims are evil terrorist scumbags i clearly said %99 of the horrific things we see done are done by people following islam now if the jewish community had taken to blowing up German citizens and other atrocities and hitler decided to wipe them out then there would be a comparison but hitlers dislike of the jews was petty and in no way on any level were the jewish anything but hard working people who happened to be good with money .Hence the phrase tight as a jew ;) i get that not all Muslims are evil but some people dont i also get that some Muslim communities will not go against what their elders say or spiritual leaders and can be ostracized form their community if they do other muslim communities are more westernised and will speak out |
