It's bin day again folks!

It's recycling day today chez Whisp and the bin men are once again recycling our milk bottles and pop bottles all the way down Willows Lane. Here is a sample.

I'm sure the council are sick of hearing from me as I seem to phone them every week. Today the nice lady who answered said she will make sure someone not only clears up the mess but also that someone has a word with the crew who repeatedly leave it like this.

This wasn't blown by the wind. It was left like this after the collection. It's not just a one off. It's like this nearly every week whatever the weather. Even the woman at the council department where I phone up to complain is getting used to hearing from me now.

The bags and boxes do get blown about don't they? I think a recycling bin, same as the wheelie bins, would be a good idea but I suppose you'd need 3,one for paper, one for glass and one for plastic and who's got room for all those bins?.There must be a solution though because the bags and boxes and their contents just end up everywhere when it's windy.

live in blackburn just the same some times wind does cause problems but mostly it is the crews fault they are to busey running round so they get an early finish

Re: It's bin day again folks!

Yes indeedy. Nothing to do with wind this. There was hardly a puff up here this morning. They just dropped this lot when emptying the bags and didn't pick them up again. It happens every week. Sometimes the wind makes it worse because once stuff is dropped the wind carries it down the street but this little lot just dropped, rolled, bounced etc and then sat there and one or two are still sitting there although I assume the street cleaners have been up whilst I was out. The odd bottle or two had rolled under cars and presumably they didn't retrieve those so once the cars moved off the bottles rolled on.

I get the same on every bin day, all the rubbish blows right infront of my house.

I mean it been a right mess sometimes, once even some porn magazine pages (no they wherent mine) litter all outside, not good when child sees them.

Now I get a road sweepers round after every bin day. Only took one phone call.

I phone them every bin day. They shouldn't have to need to clean up afterwards though should they? The bin men should be as conscientious as they used to be and pick up anything dropped.

Willow , thanks for posting the photo , just one question .......Do you have to put the stuff out at the front of your house, including the " dustbin" and then take it back in thru the house to the backyard, don't the bin wagons come down the backs anymore .

Re: It's bin day again folks!

i think they just leave em round the front, which to me looks untidy, i wouldnt like a smelly bin near my front door and no bin men dont come down backs anymore because their wagons are to big, well thats what they reckon!

Re: It's bin day again folks!

All the recycling is collected from the front and the non-recycling collected from the back at our side. Everything is collected from the front at the other side because they have an unmade back and the bin wagon can't get down there. If you saw it you'd understand why.

We keep it all round the back and just bring our recycling round the front on the appropriate day but some houses across the road have their bins and stuff out the front all the time.
