Justice prevails

The CPS have decided not to press charges against Peter Flanagan who stabbed to death one of the machete wielding burglars who broke into his home last month, what a nightmare this must have been for him, its about time you can protect yourself in your own home without fear of being arrested and/or prosecuted for fighting back against these lowlife

The bloke was arrested because he told the police he had stabbed the man.. arrest and questioning has to be the right procedure.. nobody wants to end up with situations were a person can simply use the excuse that someone is in thier home and so they have the right to kill them.. I'ts not as clear cut as this sometimes.

You are right, Mancie. If someone finds a burglar in their house, then of course they should be able to deal with it in whatever way is deemed necessary (including assault and even killing) if that is shown to be a reasonable response to the situation.

But what about the situation where the burglar holds up his hands and makes it clear he will leave the house peacefully without further ado. Are we saying the householder has carte blanche to treat the burglar as he likes, including killing him in cold blood, because he knows the law will exonerate him?

I don't think so!

Sounds fair enough to me, he should not be there. There is no justice handed out by the courts unless you think a few hours community service is good enough.

Definitely...If someone appears on my property without my say so, or with criminal intentions, well it is up to me, how I want to remove them. It is all about the situation, and I have no fear of inflicting justice

While I don't agree with guns, there is a fair point to be made. If somebody breaks into my home, I will defend it with whatever I can grab.
If you invade somebody's home, you should lose all rights.
But of course thanks to the bleeding hearts and The European Human Rights, a intruder has more than me.
Beggars belief really, glad to see Mr Flanagan has no case to answer to.

Seems like a good idea to me, if anybody breaks into somebodies home then all bets are off, they shouldn't have been there in the first place

Damn sure the thought of a possible prosecution wouldn't stop me from doing what I thought needed doing if some armed scumbag lowlife violated the sanctity of my home or threatened my family.

As to calling Plod, yeah right ! When I'd finished ..... probably !

A few more details here which, IF accurate, may well lead us to our own conclusions...
