Working from home..

Oh, the joys of working from home. I've done twice as much work today as usual, pottered around on Accy Web a lot more and filled the dishwasher. If only I could work from home every day.

Re: Working from home..

I do.....its boring and isolating. But it pays well. Motivation is the worst aspect, when the pressures on you do get on with it and produce what’s needed. but most of the time I’m sat waiting for the phone to go.

Re: Working from home..

I suppose I'm never happy with the balance. I used to work from home every day as a freelancer, then I got the MPA contract and now spend a lot of time at the MPA office. Feast or famine I think they could call it.

Re: Working from home..

This is life isn’t it Gayle. Never a happy medium. People say to me that I’m ungrateful. They would love to have the opportunity to do what I do. What they don’t have is the long periods of isolation and the lack mental contact. Stimulation is good for the soul and I think it’s far better to have people around you at work. Me? I’m a miserable b****** that likes my own company…….

Re: Working from home..

I like working from home when I have a load of documentation to do. It bores me silly so I can stick some load music on and just get stuck in with no distractions.

I don't think I'd like to do it all teh time though.

I love it I only have to go in to the office twice a week for about 3hrs and they pay for my broadband at home.... I close my office door and put on radio2 via the net and away I go why I didn't do this earlier I will never know.

Re: Working from home..

Working from home would be my idea of heaven. I work for a government department and it would be very easy to do with a programmed laptop and a dedicated phone line. I would get through far more work than I do in my present 3-day week as I would be more than happy to work in the evenings or at times of day that suited me. It would prevent that awful sleepy feeling after lunch on hot afternoons - I'd just have a sleep, then work later when I felt wide awake.

To me, working at home makes economic sense too, from the point of view of office space, heating in Winter etc. It would also help with the traffic situation as I have to drive to work (few buses in this rural community) and so do most of my colleagues.

Nothing better, do what you want when you want, as long as the client gets his project on time. Nice day, ah a round of golf first.
