I more or less said the same thing in post 31. 'There's nothing stopping other people getting off their arses to organise public events, that they and other people may enjoy. Beer festivals, Dinky car exhibitions, topless darts, if that's your bag. The only thing stopping you is apathy.' Perhaps the lap dancers could also teach adult literacy. When you've organised and secured funding for it let us know Tealeaf, as I will look forward to attending.:) |

It ain't no tax. I chose not to play, along with millions of others. If the bit that is syphoned off for 'good causes' can then be secured for something in this area, good luck to 'em. |
Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
And I think people sometimes forget where the money really goes to - the local economy.
For instance - the paying the town hall for a day's rent, that employs local people and pays them overtime for working on Saturday. The people who are supplying the food - again local companies who are doing the catering. Admittedly at this event there are a couple of workshop artists that I've brought in from different areas of the country because I wanted a more international flavour but at least three quarters of the money spent on this event is put directly back into the local economy. I hardly think that is a waste of money. |
Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
It looked great, though I had to miss the show when I found out my Mum had arranged a suprise visit from my Scottish friends, so had to dash home before she started rooting about too much.
Had a very interesting chat with a woman from Liverpool, who was the same age as me and did fashion whilst I was also studying in the city. |

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Have to say that the event did not go down as well as hoped. We simply didn't get the audience we expected or wanted. A few reasons,
Weather - it was horrendous and the town was really quiet Proximity to Christmas - everyone that was in town was there with a purpose The recent tragedy meant that none of the Asian ladies were able to turn out. It was a real shame but heck, you can't win them all. |
Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Kipax, are you able to put them on that website with a temporary password so that I can vet them first?
|
Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Yes I will be putitng them on there later... hr or two.. in middle of em now :)
The town was empty when I went.. it was hail storms and pouring rain... It had to be summat pretty special to get people through that.... As for it being near crimbo.. well to be fair thats hardly a variable :) |
