Why is it out of order? If it is what she thinks then its up to her. Its only like me saying I hate it when I am stuck in a queue next to some dirty smelly person who probably hasn't washed for months, like I was in Asda the other day. So now am I a bad person for calling people who don't wash?

We all have likes and dislikes. Who says one persons has to be the same as the nexts?

I am not going to apologise for finding fat people annoying, whether they have an 'excuse' for being fat or not, its still annoying and horrible.

Paedophiles have been given a medical excuse, do you like them more, tolerate them any more than before? Most of you have been ranting on about someone who had sex with a 14yr old for days, should you tolerate him because he has a medical 'excuse' if he's dubbed a paedophile? No, alot of you would say you hate him and want him dead. I didn't say I wanted fat people dead, i said I would rather they weren't fat because its unsightly.

I am entitled to my own opinion, and if it offends people, then who cares? Life is full of things that offend, its not something you can easily avoid unless you lock yourself in your house and do nothing at all. I'm not going to change my viewpoint just to make people happy, that would make me fake and untrue to myself. How many of you are fake just to satisfy others I wonder? Because right now it seems that there are very few on this forum who are true enough to themselves to say what they think rather than saying 'i agree with...(fill in the gap with the forums favourite members username)' so you wont get shot down.

Not the same thing at all. Blazey stated she hates fat people. The equivalent would be 'i hate smelly people', where i'm sure all of us have been a bit 'whiffy' at some point in our lives. My point is its a huge generalistaion without going into the background of why.

And Blazey, I, for one, dont change my opinion to fit in with the crowd. If I dont agree with someone on here, I'm not scared of arguing the point with my thoughts, and listening to other opinions. If people agree with me great, if they come up with a valid argument, I may agree with them, surely thats the point of this kind of forum.

Its all too easy to hide behind a computer screen making sly comments that can be aimed at certain members of the forum. I'm not sure if you are very clever, or extremely stupid and insensitive.

A womans weight, especially to those that have been slimmer in the past, is a very touchy subject, and you have hit upon these sensitivities to attack every person that is worried about their appearance. Who are you to judge them? And why do you feel the need to in the first place? You knew when you typed your statement exactly the reaction you would have. Why do it?

And to state paedophaelia is a medical condition is probably the weakest argument you have come out with so far. No one can explain why a paedophile does what he does, but it certainly cannot be used in an debate such as this one. A paedophile hurts and interferes with the innocence of youth, are saying that is the same with people with a weight problem? I would imagine for people that have been subject to sexual abuse as a minor, that statement in itself is extremely offensive and upsetting.

And if you are looking for a career in law, I think you should start opening your eyes a little more to let in the wider picture as oopose to seeing everything in black and white.

At the end of the day Blazey, you have come out with a ludicrous statement, purpely to cause upset and reaction. Good luck in your mission to battle the world

I don't believe we have discussed someone having sex with a 14 year old - or have I missed a thread? If you are referring to the discussion I think you are referring to then I suggest that you should get your facts right first. Not good for someone who is planning a career in law.

You didn't say you would prefer fat people not to be fat. You said you hate us. It is incredibly immature to hate someone who has never done you any harm but at least you were honest about it and I now know that although you don't even know me, you hate me.

Do you imagine for one moment that fat people enjoy being fat and wouldn't rather be slim? If only it was as easy as slim people think it is. Why do you imagine there are all these things like WeightWatchers and Slimming World? Even people who have won Slimmer of the Year often end up fatter than they were before. It isn't all about being a pig and stuffing your face but slim people just cannot understand that. Many of you have a 'holier than thou' attitude because you are fortunate enough not to have the problem.

We had a debate similar to this once before when a slim member of the forum said that no-one is ever offensive to fat people because it isn't PC but they insult skinny people like the waif thin supermodels. In my experience people are incredibly offensive to fat people. Now I dislike seeing people with their bones poking out of their skin and who just look like walking coathangers when modelling but I wouldn't say I hate them. I just hate the image they portray which is acheived by unnatural means and often ends up harming the person.

Of course I'd love to be slim. I have managed to lose a little this past 6 months. I haven't pigged out over Christmas on cake, trifle, pudding. In fact I can't physically eat as much as some people but it looks like I eat more because I eat more slowly. If I'm going out anywhere where there will be food (like an AccyWeb do) then I don't eat prior to that because I know I wouldn't be able to eat what was there.

I don't know what it's like for other fat people because everyone is different but I certainly don't enjoy it and if I could succeed in becoming slim again I hope I can manage to keep it off until I die.

Global warming is caused by fat people :p

So far I have avoided replying to this post, however I think I should give Blazey the benefit of my wisdom which only comes through age and life experience.

Up to having my son I was 8st 8lb and a size 8, even after having my son I was one of the lucky ones who shed my baby weight easily. I have always eaten healthily and exercised at least 3 times a week, that is until I had an accident 4 years ago in which I suffered a permanent trapped nerve in my neck and 4 prolapsed discs in my lumbar spine. Although I still eat healthily, my disabilities hinder me from doing my step aerobics, playing sports and lifting weights. Because I am not as active as I once was - I am now classed as overweight. I could use my accident as an excuse to do nothing, eat more and accept that I have limitations, however I refuse to do that, I constantly push myself to try even through severe pain and discomfort. So do you really hate me for being fat or do I even deserve your hatred?

At the age of 18, I was very much like Blazey, said exactly what I thought without even realising the impact it has on others, and the hurt & anger it causes. I also detested fat people and believed that it was all their own fault for eating rubbish and not exercising! I only realized how hurtful this comment was when I heard someone say a similar thing in a room full of my relatives of which probably half were overweight, it is surprising how your own attitude changes when you are defending people that you love and you notice how visibly hurt & upset they were by the comment made.

Blazey as you go through life you will realise that not everyone can be taken at face value, older relatives, friends & colleagues give you the benefit of their advice but you think you know better even though you are very inexperienced in life in general. I was always told I had an answer or an excuse for everything - as you get older the realisation dawns on you that the people who challenged you were in the most part correct and that the majority of the advice they gave you was really for your own good.

I lost a few jobs in my youth for being lippy & not knowing when to keep the quips to myself, I also shot myself in the foot so many times at interviews and lost friends because of my so-called honesty and I'll say what I think attitude. Like you, I also threw arguments back like 'you did this or you said that or you're a hypocrite' to try and justify my own poor behaviour or thoughtlessness, I always said that I didn't care what others thought of me, they didn't matter - I was a complete & utter spoilt selfish brat and am now thoroughly ashamed of my behaviour and some of the ignorant comments I made.

Before I make any comments or jump to conclusions I always try to stop & think about what I'm trying to say, although sometimes I admit that I still can't help myself. However, I now have the humility to acknowledge when I am wrong and apologise for any offence caused. If you had really thought or listened to what people have said to you in this thread I would expect that you would have the maturity to at least apologise to those you offended and post a coherant explanation of your original statement - For example - I'm sorry my original post came across wrong what I meant to say is I hate people who over-eat, don't exercise and do nothing about it, then go on TV expecting sympathy or drain NHS resources. To me this is a valid statement and a legitimate argument and I don't think anyone could take offense to that.

You do have the right to express your opinion - I just think you could show some thought for others and choose your words more carefully. Always remember that you alone are responsible for your words and actions and that both have consequences not only for others but for yourself too.

Well you dont have to meet someone to hate them, even if it is hate in the loosest sense of the word. People say they hate different governments, hate phone salesmen, hate loads of people whom they dont actually know.

We COULD get a nice phone call off a phone salesman, but we generally hate them without thinking of that because we relate them to negative aspects rather than positive, and I do the same with fat people. Its hardly something new in your lives

Theres a thread about you going to the dentist and Roy saying he hates dentists, he doesnt say what reasons, he just does. Is it unfair to hate dentists aswell? Or is that taken in the sense its meant rather than literally because it's Roy?

I had a traumatic experience on the bus with a fat person, ironic that they smelt quite disgusting aswell but as someone pointed out earlier to me today, fat people often smell because they can't reach everywhere with their stubby arms and hands :) Therefore my traumatic experience has made me dislike and even use the word hate towards fat people. I do not know them all, but to me they all have they scary triple chinned face that the lady on the bus had, and I just cant bring myself to like any fat people that can be classed as clinically obese. :o

Lead is recyclable, I'll just go and check the Hyndburn Council website and see which box/bag it goes in :D

It wasn't the fact that they sat next to me that was the problem, besides, doing that is just rude. I wouldnt dream of standing up just because someone sat next to me.

Oh but it is, because that intentionally humiliates one person in front of everyone, and they'd laugh at the person. Besides, she humiliated us both anyway.

So you'd much rather intentionally humiliate a whole bunch of people? What makes that preferable?

You are a student and you have offended me. Does it therefore follow that I should hate all students? Of course not, that woud just be silly.

Blazey, its blatently obvious that you are posting cack on here just to get a reaction. I doubt the bus incident even happened

I'm now of the impression that you are doing as a child does when growing up. When they want attention, they will do whatever they can to get it, including stuff they know is wrong.

I think the phrase 'attention seeking' can now also be known as ' doing a Blazey'. Lets hope you grow out of it along with the rest of the pre-schoolers of hyndburn

I thought it was just 'cynical' me who doubted the bus incident......
and for Blazey.....how would you have humiliated this person by moving.......unless of course you said in a very loud voice 'I'm moving because this fat person stinks'.

It is all the adverts saying how cheap they are, and they will keep telling us sale ends next month (until about august), I bought a suite in a sale, wanted to pay cash and they wouldn't allow it, had to leave half deposit, and take terms for the rest, (they said I could just pay the balance when it came) but they never sent a bill for the balance...quids in!

Shop assistants being 'helpful'. That annoys me.

When I say I am looking that is exactly what I am doing - looking. When I see something I fancy I may then wish to purchase it but no, I am not looking for anything in particular and no, I do not have anything in mind, I just wish to browse what you've got and see if anything takes my fancy. I do not want you shoving stuff under my nose and asking me if I've seen those.

katex 31-12-2007 16:23

Re: what annoys you?

I find most High Street store assistants just come up to you and say: "All right there?". Counted this six times in different shops when last in Trafford Centre. Not too intrusive though, just reply: "Yes, thanks, browsing". Seems to keep 'em happy.

The assistants in stores are trained to approach a customer within a time limit, jjb staff were made to approach a customer within ten seconds, failure cost them thier jobs, I found this out when I complained to a manager about it, he explained that it is company policy from head office in London, the staff in a lot of retail outlets are watched by cctv to ensure that they comply.

Have you been in Bargains4U yet in ossy? Bless his heart but the lad there actually picks up stuff and asks if we want it when we go in! Bit pushy but he seems to genuinely want us to have a bargain. Makes me smile! Unlike when you know the shop keeper just wants your money, thats annoying.

I used to work in aquamania and they had the same policy, and funnily enough when I go in now I dont get treated to the same customer service that I had to give. My boyfriend and I went in to buy something and we were stood for 15 minutes waiting to be served. Better to be nagged sometimes than to not get any service at all!

yep thats one that really bugs, at times i have picked an article off the rack n said= thank you very much, put that under yer blouse,i'm a shoplifter.;)

WillowTheWhisp 01-01-2008 10:49

Re: what annoys you?

I understand the idea that a customer should not be ignored when they actually want to be served - that's another one that bugs me. You stand there waiting at the counter while Tracey and Sharon discuss where they went last night and the 'fit lad' they fancy or whether or not they pulled.

However, being pounced on when you've barely entered the shop is not helpful, it's off-putting and it's about time companies stopped having these silly rules.

Another one is the 'helpful' waitress in a restaurant who asks if everything is to your liking when you've just taken your first mouthful and even if you'd had chance to taste it you can't tell her what you think or you'd splatter everyone else with food! AND once is enough. There was one occasion when Busman and I were out for a meal and we lost track of the number of times different members of staff asked us if everything was alright. I'm sure if they'd asked one more time Busman would have exploded.

I get annoyed when people tell me I don't look too well, when I am actually feeling on top of the world .. spend half my time then looking in the mirror to see what they are on about. Eventually, convince myself that I am not very well, and feel as bad as what they say I look .... :D
