No Guinness I didn’t miss the point at all. The Wizard of the Withering Retort makes mention of his confusion in his opening post swanking on this thread how he rounded on a woman for being, err? different, in an episode of unerring gracelessness. A series of cheap shots at a woman and kids, from someone truculently stupid and morally moribund in failing to embrace people’s diversity and respect for different cultures. His words and actions represent an ugly corrosive attitude that has no place in any level of society and should not be tolerated.
And yes you are correct I didn’t link it with a suspected terrorist escaping in a burqa but fear ye not, I now have my old mates from the SAS staking out the bottom of Less’s street. Not sure if the usual Multi Terrain Pattern MTP camouflage will allow them to blend into the background down yonder so I’ve suggested to them hang a few old KFC trays, Guinness and Coke cans from their webbing. That should do the trick.

Wondered how long it would take you to round on me again.
Not to worry, just because you can't find room in your heart to tolerate me, doesn't mean I will resort to your name calling tactics.
You have for some reason had a grudge against my existence ever since you arrived on site, what a day that was for everyone, being allowed to bask in your glory and sit at the feet of one so Godly.
I take it the virtual hugs aren't doing you any good?
Still, they can't be doing you any harm either so let's try again with a little more passion, hugs and kisses from me to you, you poor little man.

Again, you cannot use one word where six will do...and you set yourself up as a moral arbiter.....thinking yourself superior.

You miss the point by several million miles, but you will not see this because to see it, you have to be wrong..and that would never do.

We can never be sure who is behind a face veil...and while the person using this form of dress may be of no risk to us, we can never be really sure.

Does that mean I shouldn't wear my "I Think Therefore We Have Nothing in Common" t-shirt?;)

No doubt "petard" is an appropriate word when discussing Islam and walking duck blinds. On a daily basis, suicide bombers are hoisted by their own petards. Problem is they hoist a whole bunch of innocent folks along with themselves. What was "sport" to Hamlet has now become serious business.

I, personally, find nothing offensive in DtheP's unwillingnes to eschew obfuscation. What does offend me are the insults thrown at C'mon every time he posts. "Clown" and "idiot" are the common responses of more than one member. This kind of ad hominem bs rebuttal to someone's opinion has no place in reasoned argument.

But, backing away from being serious, the French word for "fart" has its roots in "petard". Seems like farting is something one shouldn't do when wearing a burqa.

Of course not Eric, in all your postings you have demonstrated intelligence without trying to infer/imply that you know better than any other member....you do not appear to hang out your intelligence, like a damp teatowel or a wet vest.

I think that once someone starts calling another member names, it denotes that their bit of the discussion/argument is lost....and name calling isn't big and it isn't clever.

Is this Less we're talking about? Now you really are scraping the bottom of the barrel in your quest for long words!

Hear hear Margaret, very true, even in the playground, which this forum often resembles.

In general, I would agree. But ... there's always a "but" isn't there;) ... there is an art to insulting. Churchill was damn good at it. So was Johnson: "Sir, your wife, under the pretence of keeping a bawdy-house, is a receiver of stolen goods":D Another fav of mine is a music critic's assessment of an orchestral performance: "Last night, the Minneapolis Symphony played Beethoven. Beethoven lost."

But, as I said, in general, I agree with you. Name calling is the last refuge of those whose arguments are threadbare to begin with.

By the way, when are you going to let me know why you despise me? After all you've been picking on me, (sob, sob) ever since you came on site, but never yet given a reason for your hatred.
How can I hope to reach your level of ignorance without a few words from you to drag me down?
:(
Also, the above was a very childish reply to he of the dark matter with froth on top.

Somehow I doubt it.

But I had my moral compass questioned for it.......intelligence doesn't need to be hung on the line for all to see...it is present in the way people answer posts on the forum.
And as soon as someone starts name calling it is a sign that their argument can't stand up.

Calling names eh? you are speaking out of your blow-hole Margaret, yeah names like Darth Vader, a KKK member or even Zorro weakens the argument. You need to reach for the nearest brown paper grocery bag and breathe into it until a normal heartbeat resumes and the flashing lights disappear Mrs P.

I do not have a blow hole.....and you are at it again.
Sneeringly insulting......but then it is all I should expect.
