A Boxing Day visitor on the East Lancs Railway running around at Rawtenstall - Loco 60009 Union of South Africa. It is being retired when it's boiler ticket expires in March 2020 so probably the last chance I get to photograph it in steam

Re: Today in pictures
Fab photos, as ever, Ryewolf.
Last one is beautiful but it’s interesting how the B&W one seems more atmospheric. I wonder if that’s merely the case for those of us old enough to remember when B&W photos, films, and TV were the norm? |
Re: Today in pictures
I agree about the black and white pics....they always seem to have more impact.
Fantastic Shots Ryewolf...well done. |
Re: Today in pictures
Thanks everyone. I photograph a lot of trains and I mostly convert them all to black and white

Because ther has not been anything much to entertain me on TV....and it is too early to make a start on cards for next year....oh yes and the fact that Santa brought me some lovely iridescent paint palettes(he didn't really...I bought them myself...because I'm 'worth it').
I spent some time painting this butterfly...and today I framed it. The gold writing on the mount says 'May Your Life be Full of Butterfly Colours' It is not easy to see on this picture....but it is there. |

Thought you weren't keen on bugs Ma? :)

Re: Today in pictures
No...I'm not, but I am in control of this one...it is not at all likely to fly off the page while I am painting it.
I am (fairly) alright with bees and butterflies....maybe it is because they are pretty. |

I was productive yesterday
The butterfly painting was done over Christmas(nowt worth watching on TV) But I mounted and framed it yesterday. The frame was bought in a charity shop.....and I added the lace to give some texture and added value. It won't be to everyone's taste, but I think it is pretty. |
