Before I was old enough used to be a bottle of Thunderbird wine and a couple of cans of Lynx lager (was cheap)
Then as I got to legal age became
Bitter
Lager
Newcastle Brown
Pernod & Cider
Benne & Hot (Winter Thing)
Guinness & Cider (poor man's velvet)
Brandy & Babycham

These days tends to be Lager & WKD

Although must admit to starting to sup Shandy more often must be a mid life crisis:eek:

My tipple used to be scotch and dry ginger but, for the last 10 years or so, even the smell of whisky makes me nauseous though I can, happily, drink Baileys. My drink of choice now is wine, preferably red (cabernet sauvignon goes down very well). When the weather is hot, or I'm just plain thirsty, I like cider and my "short" drink is vodka - but elongated with coke or cranberry juice.

I am a constant companion of Captain Morgan Rum with diet coke and ice.
In the past I would have drunk anything that was bought for me....now as I have to pay for it I'm a bit selective.

Started off drinking lager, then got a taste for bitter and lime, then went back to lager, cant stand guinness its horrible, and stayed on lager ever since..... shorts were vodka and orange, double baileys with a single of tia maria in over ice, very nice indeed. But now its orange and soda.

Haveing been in the hospiality trade for over 40 yrs, I was in a culture of drinking , it being available all the time, so that meant every day. then one night 8 yrs ago got caught on the breathalizer. There and then I said enough is enough and went cold turkey, havent had a drink since. Went for a check up not long after and doctor said the alcohol had knocked my pancreas around over the years, so I am type 2 diabetic. There are thousands of stories like mine. I never thought Id make it to 50 never mind 60, and feeling better than I did in my 20s. Another Coffin dodger, or only the good die young.

ive gone from a seven nights a week drinker
anywhere anytime to a more sedate weekend drinker
age and cost are a main factor
its nice not waking up feeling the effects of a good nights abuse :hidewall:

Re: Have your drinking habits changed

I have been the same for a few years,Baileys for when im in the house chilling out after a stressful day/week,blue WKDs when i go out(i just drink water on a lot of nights out now),Pernod occasionally, and Corkers cans of whatever his got when he aint looking.

Its really cheap for me to go out these days cos i figured i act like i have had a few and feel better when im sober n when i drink it calms me down (seriously), so alot of the time i stay on tap water when i go out(yet im the loudest one)....people are surprised n take the mickey but i dont feel bad for notdrinking or for not spending in a pub...why should i?-whoever im out with it paying over the odds for their drinks anyway.

Diet Coke contains aspartamine - that is just one of the several toxic chemicals in the ingredients.

http://www.theecologist.org/archive_...content_id=636
extract-
Although Diet Coke has a strong association with sport and health, it is actually a worrying mixture of neurotoxic and potentially carcinogenic high intensity sweeteners (aspartame and acesulfame K), tooth and bone destroying acids (phosphoric acid) and DNA damaging colourings (sulphite ammonia caramel), as well as psychoaddictive caffeine and other undisclosed ‘flavourings’.
It also contains sodium benzoate, which can be broken down into the listed carcinogen benzene in the presence of strong acids, such as the citric acid found in this product.

Aspartamine is also linked to brain damage and behaviour disorders ;)
