Do try this it works, it's been 2 months since I registered my home phone number and I can't remember the last unwanted call I received. Unfortunatly they have now started on my mobile so that number has now been added to the list so hopefully that will be the end of the Indians asking me if I'm interested in whatever junk they are trying to sell this month.

I am only starting out, so if you have registered an interest in a mortgage online, please be kind - it might be me!

And as for spam, you should see my Tiscali inbox. I refuse to allow it into my Outlook, as every day it gets totally bombed with Spam.

As soon as I can get away from Tiscali, the better! If they ever send me a correct bill so that I can pay them and make good my escape...

Hey
Lookin for a new ISP, have a look a Plusnet they have some good cheap packages for Homeworkers

Are you, like me, fed up with those constant telephone calls inviting you to order a new kitchen, change your telephone service or informing you that you may have won a holiday?

If you are, you might like to know of a service called the telephone preference service, which allows you to block these cold-canvass callers. It’s a simple to use, free service, and all you need to do is ring the number and select your options. Alternatively you can do the same thing online by accessing the website. The details are as follows:

Telephone: 0845 0700707
Website: www.tpsonline.org.uk

Once you register it takes up to 28 days for the service to take effect – but it does work!
.................................................. ..

Hope it helps.

been on it two years or more. another option is to get call barring one of the options is to not allow calls from withheld numbers. no automated system can ring you. sorted.

Re: Nuisance telephone calls.

just do what we did .most companies withhold their number so tell bt you want call barring to withheld numbers.the only way they can then ring your home is with putting 1471 before your number reveiling their number .with use of caller display then just dont answer it

I have registared but dont know if it will work for me. Bloody NTL must have given us a number used by someone else before because we keep getting phone calls for them. When I say "sorry wrong number" they try to sell me stuff then.

This really made me laugh Tealeaf and I vowed next time I got one of those calls I would try this - so I did it the other day :D Told the woman there was someone at the door, could she hang on a second and not to go away. Came back five mins later to tell her I had the chip pan on please just wait a moment longer. Then my mobile phone was ringing - she didnt stay on the line after that though. Came back and there was just a screaching noise.

Companies you're registered with will be selling your number.

We're ex-directory too and we still get them - Pain in the ass.

If they ring you at home it is a free for all for you to take the wotsit.

You can either get annoyed or make it into a game.
If you are busy and it is nobody you know - just put the phone down

If you have the time - let's play

Surveys
If they are doing a survey, ask how much you will receive from them for doing the survey. If nothing - rant and rave about why should you work for nothing when they are being paid for talking to you.

If they are selling - tell them you already have one, it is green and has been filtering your fridge magnets for over a year and costs less than 3p per day to run and with the savings in green shield stamps it turns a tidy profit. Perhaps they would like to quit their job and go working for you.
Then proceed to sell them your fridge, car, bed, wife, husband, kids or anything else that springs to mind.
Most of these people work off a script and the measure of your success is getting them to put the phone down - try it - they will not ring back.
