Mostly I use the answerphone to screen out the calls, but occasionally it's easy to forget, particularly at certain times of the day when I'm expecting calls.

Recent retorts have been 'No, he's dead', or to just put the phone next to the radio, and see how long they'll pay to listen to Radio 2.

When starting politely with my 'I'm sorry, I don't take any unsolicited calls', I was recently told to 'Hang on, and let me speak mister', I did lose it rather, and resorted to some good old fashioned expletives, before cutting her off.

My experiences too G they seem to be building up again, I've actually resorted to Tap Room language on a number of occasions of late, seems this message does get through:rolleyes:

Exactly derek, I often use the line, you should not be calling me, then the line goes dead, happen as well before the expletive deletives come out:D

Repeat silent calls from firms to be banned by Ofcom | Mail Online
This might help somewhat but we'll have to wait and see

'There appears to be a limited benefit to the customers of the Telephone Preference Service when they have only prosecuted five offending companies over the past four years.'

Five prosecutions, in four years?

Wow.

Well done.

Very tough deterrent.

G.......You know how I feel about unsolicited calls.......I hate them with a passion.
I have been on the TPS list for a number of years.......these days when i get an unsolicited call, I ask the caller if they have permission to call my number, and before they can answer, I tell them that their call is illegal and that they are risking a £5000 fine by calling me.........sometimes they just disconnect the call, other times I get enough time to ask them to remove my number from their calling list, I tell them that if they call again, I will contact the Commissioner of Information with their details.

Himself tells me that I am rude, and that these people are only doing their job.
I tell him that if they can't take the heat, then they should stop cooking.

I am polite and say, 'No thank you, I am not interested'. If they continue to push the issue, I promptly tell them to 'Get a Proper job'!!

i have recently resorted to walking into the next room, leaving the phone off the hook behind me, which is fine, until the sodding thing starts whistling, but the first thing i do before that is say - Can you hang on a sec.:D

So because these calls are made from outside the country, they can't be prosecuted?

Cool.

Let's get dialing.
