The burnt down Glynn Webbs was once Asda (opened 1961) but before that it was Nightingales car showroom - hence the ramp for getting the car to the display area.

Was it called the Queens after it was Nightingales I seemed to remember when the grocery store first opened people where still calling it the Queens or am I confused as usual

You are confused - the Queens is the bingo hall on the other corner at the top of Oxford St -- which used to be the coop --alll will be clear if you read that 'Cinema' thread

That bingo hall was also owned by Fred Skinner, who also had bingo places in Great Harwood, Clayton, Padiham, and Bury

One day, when I pluck up the courage to empty the bottom of those wardrobes, I may well come up with much more than the Atari. I have a feeling Lord Lucan may have been in there at some time. :D

Does anyone used to remember them fur thingys ya used to have on a piece of string and you used to put the string up ya arm and pull so it looked like ya had a furry pet?
