The first TV I ever watched was the Queens Coronation. My uncle had built a television using a bomber radar screen which was about 9 inches across, in a huge box. The whole picture was in bright shades of green which we didn't find strange at the time. There were about 15 of us crowded round this tiny screen.
It was several years before my folks got a proper TV.

Think I was the same Gordon, can remember going to the local grocers, on Union Road with my Mum Dad and Grandma to watch the Queens coronation, then off to a street party, well it should have been, but it ended up in the Foxhill Grove church hall (which is now a car park) because of the weather

Must have been one hell of a storm to turn a church hall into a car park.:D

Watch with mother about 1957 - 58 as I remember -
Monday - Picture Book
Tuesday - Andy Pandy
Wednesday - Bill and Ben
Thursday - Rag Tag & Bobtail
Friday - The Woodentops.
I remember having a hissy fit when they sometimes took the Woodentops off because of the horse racing!
I also remember that following Watch With Mother there sometimes used to be keep fit on for the housewives which my mum and me used to join in with!

Welcome home...:)

Zoonie the Lazoon, lazy, semi-telepathic pet of Dr. Venus from planet Colevio (voiced by David Graham). During his first appearances, he couldn't say anything but "welcome home" but his vocabulary grew as the series progressed, often due to him mimicking other characters.

Accy?

Kes was set in Yorkshire.

Worse, in Barnsley.

Still I know all you soft southerners think everything above Marylebone High Street is just one mass, called 'The North'.

Personally I never saw television as a child.

I much preferred to watch real people suffer.

Roy Rogers was a film star back in the 40' and 50s, with his horse Trigger, (which I think is stuffed in a case somewhere) and his partner Dale Harden, they were regular appears at kids matinees along with Hop along Cassidy and the Lone Ranger and Tonto and Sci fi Flash Gordon:)

I watched the old and trusted valve radio. I was more interested in the glow of the valve in the back of the radio. It must have been in the late 50s when people started to get TVs in any real numbers around our way at least. We also had an organ in the front room and I could pick tunes on that for something to do I suppose. So no we did not watch much TV. Too busy with football, cricket and swimming etc.

Off the top of my head, there were Willy and Jenny the twins.
Mummy and Daddy of course.
And wasn't there a man who helped with the gardening? Sam I think.
And a lady (Sam's wife?) who helped mummy with the housework.
And the Woodentops DEFINITELY had the biggest Spotty Dog you ever did see.

Was there a monkey in one called Zooney? and Robert the Robot! Used to like Skippy and Daktari, The Littlest Hobo, Tinga and Tucka or Tucker? Fred the Beak? Pinky and Perky,Crackerjack, Flipper, The Lone Ranger, The Big Valley, Bonanza, The Flaxton Boys, Blue Peter, Captain Pugwash and Noggin the Nog.

What was that programme called where a young Lad used to have a Boomerang and when he threw it in the air, time stood still for a few minutes?...Used to be on either Sat or Sun tea time ish or early evening?

Oh happy days...and no worries...well not many anyway!!

Not kids stuff but looked forward to watching Sunday Night At The London Palladium. Resting on my elbows on the carpet breaking my neck looking up at the black and white TV in the corner.
