Re: Who else 9.04 ing?

yes, all CDs are Live CDs

it has the option on boot to run as a live CD or to be an install CD. If you load as a live CD you then also have the option to install from the running system

Re Less....

Perfection is based on current vision, how can you know what other wonders are available untill you experience them. it still stands as perfection on todays knowledge irrespective of any potential improvements that could be there.

as it is it does a full release in less time than Vista can copy 2 files across a network..... :D:D:D:D

Oh dear a man of selective memory, may I ask you to cast your mind back a few years and you will remember that I was setting up a Compaq dual core Computer to run Fedora 4 core, So I have had experience of linux in fact that Computer is still with me and working fine on that platform.

It was around the time when someone set up accy linux site to assist those of us just starting the great adventure of reaching the computer equivalent of Nirvana.
I had a problem though after my first install the P.C. would boot but end up with a blank screen, the expert from the above site offered to call over and set it up for me,.
When he arrived I told him I suspected the drivers for the grotty Compaq graphics card, I was poo, pood for even thinking such a thing and after 20 minutes the expert announced that the platform I was trying to mount was far too complex for a beginner such as I and he would supply me with an all singing all dancing copy of Ubunto that would be better suited to my needs.

Well I can tell you I'm still awaiting his return with the disk(s) but between myself boldly going where a Windows 98 guy, (yes it was that long ago), shouldn't foolishly go and a very patient Mick we fixed the drivers for the graphics card.

Perhaps the moral to this story is NEVER rely on someone that claims to be a Linux Guru they could just be a false technical God and we should all sometimes work with our own natural abilities and go for the first logical suspicion and fix the darned thing ourselves!

woo, been on the grumpy pills again Less?

My recollection of that day are rather different. suffice to say I'm not even going to argue any differences as there has obviously been many days that you could have asked again to clarify any misunderstandings........

I'm glad you are happily using said PC and are obviously happy with the reliability etc of it.

now lets get back on thread or Mick will be deleting the thread wander as he usually does.

Bringing the thread back...

I downloaded both 32 & 64 bit, it actually runs on my laptop.

Not finding he network though, I can see I have to add it.
Is there no "search for a wireless network" function?

mattylad 05-05-2009 16:16

Re: Who else 9.04 ing?

And I wont even ask how to dual boot it yet :D

So give your recollection of what happened.

I am only trying to remind you of what did happen, anyone that wishes to read the blemish about Accy linux feel free to google, but be prepared for nothing but spam and porn sites, you might have forgotten but most of us with Windows have transferred our favourites to our newer Computers.

I am not a God or a guru or anything else people claim to be, I only try to help people from the beginning which let's face it is Windows.

And I said ages ago that it had been abandoned as I had lost teh password and the sites admins would not reset it.

Feel free to be as arsey as you want, you are just looking peevish and silly now.

I'm quite comfortable with teh amount of help I have and continue to provide to people so it makes little difference in my world.

Re Matty lad, has it identified your wifi card? there should be an icon of 2 computers. Hover over them(if there is more than 1) and see if one looks like a wireless connection ( wlan0 )

Try left clicking them. If they are wifi it will show a list of all available networks. choose teh one you want, enter network key if required and away you go.

Excellent!

So are you going to allow it some of your disk space?

mattylad 06-05-2009 11:36

Re: Who else 9.04 ing?

not quite yet. :D

I need to tackle the long list of programs that I need to run on it or how to install it on my laptop alongside Vista first.

entwisi 06-05-2009 11:49

Re: Who else 9.04 ing?

The latter is what I meant as in are you going to allow it to install in Dual boot mode.

If you let me know a list o programs you want and I'll try and let you know what the equivilant is in Linux.(and what choices you have)
