Re: Liverpool.. the road to the title 2011

Well you kept your title chances alive today, still at least it was not a walk in the park for you.
Personally I felt today's Suarez/Evra's incidents, by both players, before and after, Suarez refusing to shake Evra's hand pre match and Evra celebrating in front of Suarez post match should now be the end of it.

On a side note, I see that some Man U fans had a rather offensive Fanzine seized, featuring a Klu Klux Klan cut out mask. Seems that both teams have their share of idiots.
BBC News - Manchester United fanzine seized before Liverpool game

"on a side note" :D...you've got some front mate, and I'll give you that.. Suarez should be deported back to whatever kak hole he came from...but then I reckon the scousers would appeal against it to the european court of human rights.:D:D;)

Re: Liverpool.. the road to the title 2011

Not front Mancie, I am better than that. What has been done is done. From what I saw today both were doing stupid things. Man U fans have also done stupid things, Liverpool fans have done stupid things.
There is no mileage in dragging up this subject, other than for petty gain. I will not get into further bickering on this.

Ok what's done is done..it's a pity "king kenny" don't see it the same way..he comes across like some guard at a death camp.."I will defend my player to the death"
On a side note ..was the king kenny the manager when you lot killed all those people at Heysel.?

Withdraw that remark, please.

I turned to this thread with interest to read people's views on the behaviour of Messrs Suarez, Evra and Dalgleish yesterday.

Re: Liverpool.. the road to the title 2011

I don't agree with that Mancie, I think that at both Heysel & Sheffield the authorities, both ground and police, were to blame.
As for yesterday, well I see that Suarez has at last apologised for that incident, a pity that KK hasn't apologised for his after match comments - taking after Arsene "I didn't see that" Wenger.
Isn't it time that they admitted they were wrong - they did have the opportunity to challenge the ban but didn't, so what does that say? Let us have closure and then get on with the football.
I did think it was a good game but I admit my bias, enjoyed Spurs win as well - maybe they will be the closest challengers to United - and even Rovers won well.
I think BG meant that the scousers would be pushing for a Europa Cup place next year, certainly don't think that they will be aiming for the Champion's League

Boeing Guy 12-02-2012 16:24

Re: Liverpool.. the road to the title 2011

Well said Barrie, glad to hear your comments, I could not agree more.
I see Kenny now has apologised for his behaviour as well.
It is time to draw a line below these sad incidents.
Well I still feel that we can make the Champions League next year, only 4 points in it at the moment.
Seems city just wanted to throw it away today, supprised by that

It seems they only apologised after the American owners intervened. No doubt they saw Suarez and Dalgleish's behaviour as harmful to their money making machine.

That's spot on gynn, the only person who bought a football club with the intension of improving that club without making a profit was Jack Walker, Jack will be spinning in his grave seeing the crap now going on down at Ewood:mad:

Very unlikely you will qualify for the Champions League, quite possibly not even for the Europa on league placing - so make the most of it. may even have been down to scouse tribal custom that they won:tongueout:D

A run for their money......you don't have much faith then, goodness me I thought you would be proclaiming your lot would win it by next week....

For the record.. Kenny left Liverpool because of the effect the Hillsbrough Disaster had had on him.
At Blackburn he became Director of Football, then left. No walking out.

I would worry a heck of a lot more about the future of SAF's wonder boys, pretty soon you will be wondering why you don't win anything anymore.

Re: Liverpool.. the road to the title 2011

I see that BG doesn't have anything to say after the weekend's failure - for the scousers. Maybe they have given up on the Premier League and are now going to put everything into winning the FA Cup - otherwise they will have to play all the preliminary rounds in the Europa.
I think I read that Stoke have played 18 games in that competition this season up to now, can the scousers manage that number of games?
Rovers still hanging on, can they avoid the drop this season?

"Failings" - how many points are the scousers behind La Creme. We may be second at the moment but we do have a chance of overtaking them whereas the scousers will be lucky to get into 6th place the way they are going.:D

I have to say the thing that amused me was Mancini saying the reason City got beat was because they were tired. these prima donas are plying 180 minutes of football a week at the most and training for about 3 hours a day max and they're tired, maybe if their wage packets weren't so big they wouldn't tire themselves out going to the bank, a good days work would kill the lot of um:rolleyes:

That is so true perhaps for the FA & Carling Cups, but we have won the Premiership the odd time or two and been to the European Cup final as well. Outshines the scousers performances in the recent years - where has the greatness gone?
Once again we were crap and deservedly beaten - quite comprehensively. Ah well.

Just read an article in the press this morning about Martin Keown, who is now a BBC pundit, he was talking about how he is still every wary about United fans after his run in with Van The Man back in 2003, he's now very concerned because BBC Sport has transferred to Manchester, well he don't need to bother about United fans whilst working in Manchester, because its probably the safest place you could pick to avoid United Fans:D:D

Sorry Jay, had missed that:)
Did your lot a big favour, I reckon Wolves & Wigan are going down with any one - including Rovers, from about 4 to join them - and the scousers in danger of finishing in the bottom half, but that won't matter to KK as long as the money keeps rolling in (even though the gates are down on last year):D

When are Man U off to Wembley this year?
We are going for the second time. Do you have any silverware yet?

At the moment its 3 from 5 Barrie, and I'm not that confident we won't be one of the three, but it makes no difference really, if we avoid the drop we'll still be in the same position as we are now, a useless manager, the worst in premier league history, and owners that know nothing about football who are being advised by an agent who is obsessed by self interest. So its a case as same as same as, because if we do avoid the drop they'll say Kean has done a good job, in fact if we do go down I'm not sure Venky's will sack him even then.

No, not this year - but we will be in the Champion's League next year from the start. What can the scousers look forward to? The Europa Cup which means they could have to play an extra 18 or more matches, quite a bit different than recent years when they have only played in English matches:p:D

Isn't it just an 'end of season' syndrome? They are in the Europa Cup next season through winning the Carling Cup. They are not going to get into the Champions League.

Try telling it to the poor season ticket holders who have paid through the noses to watch them win games, but the fact is there is not a lot left to play for in the League.

That shouldn't matter, the Liverpool of old played for pride & passion, self respect, with the ultimate aim of representing club & Country, most of the lads were Liverpool born & bred or if not from the City at least aspired to the ethos of Shankley & Paisley, Sadly there's far to many foreign influences within the game nowadays.

The influx of mercenary money orientated players/agents have destroyed the true meaning of a "Local" team. And while it may make for interesting ? Football, the pride & passion is missing in the big (money) leagues, that's why the likes of Stanley are far more worthwhile from a purely football point of view, okay they won't give the spectacle of big international games against the likes of Barca, Juve & Bayern, but what you get at the Crown is good honest to goodness, grass roots, warts & all Footy as it should be.

That's as maybe, but look at the rest of the squad, Argentinian, Australian, Brazilian, Danish, Dutch, French, Greek, Portuguese, Slovakian, Spanish, Uruguayan, even a jockeen & a Geordie ! so I think that confirms the point I made, look back at the 70's-80's & the majority of England players came from Liverpool (the team) Hughes, Keegan, Clemence, Thompson, Neal, Kennedy, Johnson, McDermott.

With you there Dave.

We have 16 out of 30 first squad all British, down the road at Manky U they also have 16 British lads but a squad size of 32.
It took red nose, sorry Saf, 4 years to win anything, the FA cup which saved his career.
Regardless we were a outside chance to win the league, it takes time for any manager to make his mark. However Two trips to Anfield South in his first full season as Manager and the first visit for the team in 14 years, first cup in 16 years. I'll take that.

You might, but will the golbal fan base and faceless American owners?

I think you'll find its Champions League or nothing.

And if it was your first visit to Anfield South in 14 years, I hope you all had sat-nav!

Spot on Gynn, with the rise of the Plastic supporters for ALL Premiership teams means there is more and more pressure on managers than ever, just ask AVB from Chelsea.
It is a sad fact of life

Quite right BG if Fergie had been starting at the Theatre of Merchandising today and start of in the way he did back in the 80s I doubt he would have gone on to reign for 25 years, I think that's the problem the plastics will have when he finally finishes, was the same when Busby stood down back in the 60s they were relegated soon afterwards
