David Moyes inherited a Premier League winning team, so does he leave the wining formula in place? No he has a clear out and brings people he is happy with. He tries to buy players he knows, nothing wrong there. This is very much like the change we went though when Souness took over. It will take several more games to see his style (just look at his history at Everton) take over from Fergies, but I cannot see United winning the premiership this season, you will be top four, you have the players there, but will it be enough? I would expect any supporter to back his manager, we would, but the glory years are over. The Manchester United of old would have beat Liverpool, a team who had a injured player, Sturridge, and their star Biter, sorry Striker, not playing. The hunger they had with Alex was not there, it remains to be seen if it continues, the next few months will tell. |

So now the dust has settled on the weekends matches lets see how our teams all did?
La Creme, showing all the usual great signs of greatness, smashing a 10 man Crystal Palace, its harder aginst 10 men and back to their rightfull place on top of the league.....oh hang on.....:D Blackburn, manginging to keep their unbeaten run against Burnley, their greatest rivals, hopefully starting to show signs of improvement. Stanley, well they are having a painful start, only 1 point, but it is early on. Lastly Liverpool, what can I say. Well we could have won, as Barrie said a few weeks ago Swansea are a tough side. Nice to see we can hold our own even withput our star vampire, sorry striker, only one more game to go. Its nice to be on top, its been a while since we were there:D:D |

What a crap month September has been. My team going into meltdown, notorious slow starters maybe but this has been ridiculous. Outplayed, out thought, ponderous, mindless and totally lacking in passion and work rate. Ah well, things can get worse, but hope springs eternal.
Mind you, other than the NN, nobody else has been setting the league on fire, what a team they have assembled, but I do think it is going to require some inspired juggling of players to keep them all happy in World Cup season. National Managers are often wary of including bench warmers. It just hasn’t been the football either – 2 weeks in that marvellous edifice overlooking Blackburn that passes for a hospital – it just does not compare with Bury where I have been twice this year. It was 2 weeks of what I assume purgatory to be. Perhaps it was Jay’s revenge for VFC continuing to be crap. So that has kept me quiet for a while, just starting to feel myself again. Probably won’t feel any brighter after tonight – but saw some interesting statistics yesterday – the scousers have a better record without the Vampire than they do with him?????????? |

Now back to sniping at each other over our respective teams...... Tonight could be very telling, I wonder who will get first bite at a goal (or Leg), I hear Suarez is hungry for this game:D Seriously though this is pure gold from DM, from todays Independent. "Moyes said ahead of another forbidding clash, against Liverpool in Wednesday night's Capital One Cup third round, that "a lot of people" thought the title race was only about Manchester United last season. Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
As much as I do not want to do a cmon copy and paste (the article is here:Glazers ready to back David Moyes with major funds during the January transfer window to save season for Manchester United - Premier League - Football - The Independent), I could not help it this time.
Glazers ready to back David Moyes with major funds during the January transfer window to save season for Manchester United The Glazer family are ready to invest substantially to reshape David Moyes’ Manchester United squad in recognition of the new manager’s claim that he has inherited a club short of world-class players. ..... The club’s owners the Glazers acknowledge that the Premier League may be far more competitive this season, despite the indifferent starts that Chelsea and Manchester City have again experienced, and that it may take time and patience, as well as investment, to see the club through the managerial succession. Only now is it becoming apparent quite how significant the guiding hand of Moyes’ predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson actually was, in making an average squad look powerful. ...... United have already seen – and welcome – Moyes’ characteristic reluctance to make impulsive spending decisions and the problem in January may be the high prices they are quoted. They found Everton’s chairman, Bill Kenwright, unwilling to sell Leighton Baines at any price this summer and though the Merseyside club’s coach, Alan Stubbs, has confirmed that Baines did ask to leave for Old Trafford, United would have to make an unrefusable offer. .... Moyes brings his squad out here to eastern Ukraine for potentially their toughest game in their Champions League qualifying group at Shakhtar Donetsk tomorrow, having offered a far more negative assessment of their chances of success in the tournament than Ferguson ever did. After Moyes delivered several brutally honest assessments of the resources at his disposal, consideration must now be given to the effect of that strategy on the players’ morale. Well I have highlighted the important bits and edited some of it out, so did Moyes really inherit a ageing average squad? The same squad that walked the league last year? I would be interested to hear a Mancs view. Shakhtar Donetsk are no easy side, a loss there will heap even more pressure on him. How do the player react to the fact their manager feels they 'are not up to it'? It seems at the moment the owners have given Moyes their backing and intend to weather the storm, it could be a long one. i for one hope they give him the full 6 years, after all he managed with Everton he seems to be doing the same here.:D |
Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
I honestly think owd red nose knew exactly what he was doing when he quit!! The scum last season were far off being as good as previous scum sides, plus ageing was a big factor in the side. Only thing i aint sure of, is did he deliberately set Moyes up,to make himself look even greater?
|
Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
How the hell am I supposed to convalesce when my team appears to be going into meltdown. Other than beating the scousers – and that was probably done as a favour so that they can try and concentrate on the League – did note that the Scouse Ladies did win something even though the suggestion was made that they bought it.
Why Moyes changed his team around after doing the scousers, who knows. I thought the idea of Jones and Carrick together was good as with the back four – Buttner needs a bit more experience though. I do concede that certain players are not good enough for La Crème – Nani, Ferdinand, Evra, Anderson, Young and possibly Valencia if he doesn’t start doing again what he does best. Kagawa has a way to go to adjust to the demands of the PL and perhaps the worst thing of all is Vidic, he appears to have lost that domination of the box. And so to this week, SD away – that can be utter humiliation and then another pitfall lying in wait at Sunderland. Ah well, time will tell – watch this space. Thanks to all for the personal good wishes - getting there thanks but maybe another couple of weeks before back to normal - let the jousting continue. |

A better week for La Crème – a draw against SD where no English team has succeeded before and a scrappy match yesterday but a win is a win and 3 points, so maybe that is the turning point for us;) After all, we are only 6 points behind the scousers which is nothing (are they lining up for KD to take over when they sack Rodgers? Must admit it seems strange to sack a manager and then appoint him as a Director)
The Deadwoods were on a flyer, have they now gone into meltdown? Scoring for the opposition and a player sent off for violent conduct – wonder if any bets were made? It must be galling to see Burnley way ahead sitting on top of the division with almost double the points – and the likelihood that Rhodes will be snapped up by a better run club come January, where will that leave them? VFC probably intend to turn Deadwood Park into a chicken farm:p Stanley need to turn something around pretty quickly – pathetic defence on Friday, defenders allowing the opposition to virtually stroll past them, when are they going to wake up?:( |

Not quite as crap a weekend as recent ones have been - better than getting beaten. The scousers didn't do any better and they were playing against 10 men - a couple of bad decisions by the officials, perhaps they were invited to the Welcome Back KK extravaganza.
Better for Stanley too, let us hope they can kick on from here. And the deadwoods? well, only a question of time before they started to play at their normal level, but at last they seem to be achieving their objective. Worst of all for them is that Burnley have almost twice the number of points and are top of the league |

Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
Moyes is playing Fellaini in the players preferred defensive midfield role.
However, he is also playing Carrick alongside him which leaves a lack of central midfielders breaking forward into the box. Moyes didn't have the same tactic at Everton, he always had a holding midfielder but he also encouraged the other 2 central midfielders (Everton 95% of the time played 4-5-1) to get forward in support. At Everton, Fellaini was used far more as an attacking central midfielder, similar to the way Tim Cahill was used by Moyes, filling the space behind the striker and acting as a target man. But this is not his preferred position, and while he is effective as a supporting midfielder, he is best IMO in a box to box player. I cant believe Kagawa has not been used more. |
Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
And as I have stated previously, you wont win a thing under Moyes (fergies charity shield not included).

raise his game to fit into the United role. Kagawa shows promise but still has a way to go - perhaps he needs the match fitness. Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
Quite a nail biting afternoon, I seriously thought that a team who likely to be relagated were going to steal a easy win at the Manc's. Thankfully they managed to turn it into a win, to be fair though, Stoke have only managed to beat Crystal Palace and West Ham in the league this season, hardly title winning teams. Phew I thought that maybe the Moysiah was in danger of losing his job before Christmas, if he can keep these standards we should have at least a season for him to help transfom Man U into the new Everton.

Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
Watched the Utd. game today ... this is the kind of coming from behind that they need ... not a great fan (not even a little one); but I did get the sense that folks were writing them off too soon. Maybe at last the EPL is becoming more like major league baseball in that any team can beat any other team ... once that is established it all boils down to heart, guts, and history ... along with a slight edge in skill. With their world class goal tending, talented youngsters, and quality veterans they will be in there at the end of the season. I think today might be the turning point. They got off to a lousy start this season, but this game could be the end of the beginning (thanks, Winnie:D).

Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
I have been waiting patiently for the scousers to stick there heads above the parapet - perhaps they are stuck up their nether regions:p. Where were the SaS men, seemed that they were as invisible as the defence - only 3 points ahead of La Crème now BG, how long before we overtake you?:tongueout
Great day for the deadwoods - is it true that they are organising an open top bus tour to celebrate? See that Burnley are still at the top and a good few points ahead of the deadwoods - are they going to start their revival and a push for promotion next year - the 2014/15 season?;) Stanley left it late but salvaged a point (was it a touch of Fergie Time?), and are no longer on the bottom and - another win could lift them a few more places.:) La Crème turned on the style in the first half, but 3 substitutions by half time changed the play completely, but 3 - 1 will do me any time. Beginning to look as though it will be between La Crème and the NN;):D |
Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles

Re: Mancie's Thread - The Road to the Titles
What a load of crap, it was almost as bad as watching the scousers.
Until he realises that Young just isn't good enough except for his theatricals, Fellaini, thankfully will miss the next game and Kagawa is useless playing out of the centre. Could understand his idea was probably to save some of them for the weekend but he has got enough strength in his squad for them to do better than that Still, top of the group, and just as importantly only 3 points behind the scousers in the Premiership and plenty of time to overtake them as usual. |

After 10 games the lowest in the Position Manky U under Red Nose was, 2005-2006, 6th Place, they ended up finishing 2nd at the end of the season. The stats, Won 5, Drawn 3, Lost 2, with 18 points. Compared to, 2012-2012, 8th Place (their lowest ever in the history of the Premier League). The stats, Won 5, drawn 2, Lost 3, with 17 points. The difference was in 2005-2006, you had red nose. Burnley maintain their place at the top of the Championship - 15 points ahead of their local rivals.:D The deadwoods are back to normal, losing to a team that were below them, Oh some things never change. Perhaps it won't be long before their derby rivals are no longer Burnley but Stanley - now that will be great:rolleyes::tongueout Already commented obliquely on the scousers but a good win for them, better than La Crème did against them but we did play at Craven Cottage rather than at home. A tense game for La Crème, no problems at all in the first half but Arsenal came back into it in the second half but even with a makeshift defence we survived without too many scares - that is until Giggs and Fellaini were introduced, then I was worried.;) Nothing next weekend so you are alright BG, you will still be 3 points ahead in 2 weeks time - at KO that is;):tongueout:tongueout:D |

Now, Liverpool 23 Points, only lost 2, 2nd in table Mancs, 20 Points, lost 3, 5th in table. This weekend could be interesting, we have a tough derby with those from across the way, while the Mancs, have a really easy game against newly promoted Cardiff, although it is a away game. |
