Ok this is what me and spug came up with in the last 30 mins.

A = Adam and the Ants
B = Blondie
C = Communards
D = Dire Straits
E = Erasure
F = Frankie goes to Hollywood
G = Genesis (original lineup)
H = Human League
I = INXS
J - Jools Holland
K = Kool & the Gang
L = Lighthouse Family
M = Michael Jackson - 80's and early 90's stuff
N = Gary Numan
O = Oasis
P = Police
Q = Queen
R = Roxy Music
S = Stranglers
T = Tina Turner
U = U2
V = Van Morrison
W = Wet Wet Wet
X = XTC
Y = Paul Young
Z = ZZ Top

Now rip it apart!!! :D

Lieutenant Pigeon - keyboard driven, instrumental mayhem with surrealist overtones...a huge, yet rarely acknowledged, influence on the Madchester bands.

Just hearing the name conjures up visions of Mrs Robert Powell, or big, busty, blond Babs as she was more commonly known, stomping around in platform boots on TOTP to Mouldy Old Dough.:rolleyes:

Happy days.:D

Middle Of The Road - who can forget those early 70's musical revolutionaries with their breathtaking new concepts in harmony and melody, allied to darkly perceptive lyrics dealing with the angst of parental loss.

"Last night I heard my mama singing this song,
oh-we, chirpy chirpy cheep cheep,
woke up this morning and my mama was gone,
oh-we chirpy chirpy cheep cheep,
chirpy chirpy cheep cheep chirp."

Almost Byronesque in its understated, yet chillingly vivid poetic elegance.

It goes without saying that it was a significant influence on the young Morrissey.

OK M.... Martine McCutcheon
Martine's own brand of hard hitting rock burst on the scene with "This Is My Moment".. a world wide acclaimed song with up your's lyrics such as

Tell me you love me the moment you leave
You're more than a shadow, I've got to believe
I wish I could keep you all of my life
The way that I feel for you inside

Hard Rock had changed forever.

I though Martine was going to be the new Clodagh Rogers.

She sadly didn't fulfill her earlier potential.

Melanie Safka, nice one cashman. I was only listening to 'The Very Best of Melanie' the other day. She does the best ever cover version of 'Ruby Tuesday'.
As for Y, that has to to be Shakermaker's favourite, the one and only Neil Young.

Melanie was great.. specially liked her cover of "Brand New Combined Harvester" even though you can't beat the original by The Wurzels!
