Funny that susie that's probably the only record from that era that I actually like, I like the haunting backbeat of the harpsichord or what ever it is

Know what you mean John and if I didn't hate it so much I'd probably like it, but all pop music after my teens/twenties inthe sixties leaves me cold apart from one album. Don Mclean's American Pie.

punk was/is just another type of music that anyone an listen to, its another option to service your ears. there are so many types of music, just get out there and listen to something new once in a while. When i was 16 and started work i began going to accy market and bought led zepp's 1st 2 albums, influenced by their 'latest' album In Through The Out Door. I've got loads of cd's now. I don't agree with programs like X Factor, i dont like Simon Cowell, my record collection is better quality than his i bet.:theband:

Punk is pop! You will find that the Sex Pistols were a massive influence on many people and got them into making music in the first place. Even Holly Johnson was motivated by Punk. So were New Order, Adam Ant - the New Romantics and many others! :D

Sorry but I can't agree. Look at The Police, just to try to get a hold in the music scene of the time they made their worst ever songs and died their hair blond and tried to act like punks -pathetic! Made it when they did their own thing.

Market forces were at work - punk was new then but didn't last long...

Can't see even at a distance any influence of punk on Frankie and co. they were original as they were and it was dance music -not that I'm an expert of course;)

i am no fan of pop music especially 80's pop but as for punk been the death of pop the result is in and pop is still around and punk is merely perfomed in small venues such as pubs or town halls by middle aged fat blokes trying to cling onto something that flatlined years ago

even the so called iconic sex pistols john lydon is nothing more than a front man for butter adverts these days.

the only place for punk is as an alternative t-shirt to wearing nirvana t-shirts for college students.

pop music 1 - 0 punk music

I'd sooner not "service" my ears with punch thank you, nor Rap for that matter anything else I'll give a whirl, including Prog Rock:D and Opera (light opera that is);)
