New Contracts?
Contracts for next season.:confused::rolleyes: Who should stay?
|
Re: New Contracts?
Not sure who is under contract for next season. I know Ryan, Edwards and Turner signed two year deals.
Realistically I think Murphy, Richardson, Mullin and King will be released. There'll be calls to let go of McConville but I don't think it'll happen. I just hope we can keep hold of the key players like Winnard, Joyce and Symes who could easily hold their own in the league above. |
Re: New Contracts?
agree with those shaker, also agree Mconville should be on his bike n don't think that will happen, think its more a question of who we need, a keeper is a must assuming boozers loan expires, got the neucleus of a damn good side, just need coley to pull 2/3 rabbits out of his hat. symes also must stay,if at all possible as was very evident last night.
|
Re: New Contracts?
Personally would like to see Dunbavin, Kempson, King, Winnard, Joyce and Symes re-signed on at least 2 year contracts. Does the dynamic duo take a risk on Leam Richardson, I don't know. Probably not but when fit, he has been a fantastic servant. Mullin I can see going and McConville for me should go. Then I am sure they will be looking at the loan market again for next season. What about youth players coming through, we also have one loaned out don't we? What about Alan Burton, been out injured since returning to the club.
|
Re: New Contracts?
Surely First Contracts have to be John & Jimmy!!
|
Re: New Contracts?
Whoever comes in must be over 6 foot' and 12 stone (preferably of muscle not puppy fat).
Should be able to keep goal and then run down the left wing, onto a through ball into open space, behind defences. Ability to pick off rebounds and smash them into the back of the opposing net would also be of benefit. If he''s someone nephew as well, all the better. |
Re: New Contracts?
well said exile lol.
My humble opinion on the squad.............. Bouzanis (Will be back at Liverpool, Hopefully we can land another prem or championship keeper on loan for next season, or break the back and get king Kenny Arthur back) Lees (No doubt for me he will be on the fringes of the Leeds team next season) Kempo (Sign him up, 1 year deal) Edwards (Sign him up, 2 years) Winnard (Sign him up, 1 year) Ryan (Sign him up, 2 years) Joyce (Sign him up, 1 year) Proccy (Sign him up, 1 year) Miles (Id let him go but no chance of it happening) Symes (PRIORITY Sign him up 2 years) Grant (See Symes) Others Dunbavin (Still gives me heart attacks, decent number 2 though) Turner, NEEDS to play more or he will be off to Morecambe no doubt, SIGN HIM UP King I Like him, (Sign him up 1 year deal, but no doubt he will go) Murphy, Looked a decent prospect at center back, but not progressed for me) Flynn, Back to Rovers for Johnny, not given a chance here, YET Mccarten, See Flynn back to Everton though Kee,Could make the Leicester bench next season if they stay in Championship Mullin, Time is up for John I think Richardson, Great servent but never fit, has to go for me Mcconville, Still a young lad and could improve Burton, Never seen him play yet, Ami, See Burton |
Re: New Contracts?
ya have more faith than me in mcconville smudge, too lightweight fer me.
|
Re: New Contracts?
Whilst I admit he hasnt looked the best, he has shown the odd glimpse of quality.
Could be 1 for the future, maybe :S |
Re: New Contracts?
At risk of setting up a mutual admiration society, I think His Smudgeness has it more or less spot on.
Afraid that it may remain bargains picked up in The World of Loans that could make the difference again next year. The only hope is that economic reality hits all other clubs and Stanley's meagre resources no longer present the disadvantage they do now, |

Personally I think Loanees are essential for every club outside the Premiership more or less
|
Re: New Contracts?
Not just loanees
There are hundreds if not thousands of kids released from Academies and contracts every season some from higher levels than League Two, these are the ones where our future lies a chance to take them onboard, polish them up and become part of the first team fixtures and maybe in years to come sell on for profit to put back into the Club Dean Winnard is a prime example this season, our very own Chris Turner & Bobby Grant through our own Academy. |

Let's hope they are the 6 foot,12 stone keeper, left wing wizard, and goal poacher we've been looking for.

Aparently the left back is a real prospect :)

Re: New Contracts?
After seeing the highlights on the beeb tonight, then I'd personally be handing a P45 to Dunbavin and Miles at the end of this season. Not just on the strength of the comedy showing on offer at Bournemouth but for the fact that neither are worthy of any extended deal.
Dunbavin, purely and simply is not good enough. God loves a trier, and god knows he's tried my patience at times, but to draw a line under the situation, Bournemouth's second proved Dunbavin ( or Dunsavin) as others have jokingly pointed out, he just is not good enough. Miles is one of the laziest footballers I have ever seen. At 10% of times he shows glimpses of his ability, the other 90% of the time he's totally anonymous. If we're to build on this season, for me, he has to go. I'd sooner see someone giving 100% in that red shirt, playing the full 90 and beyond, than someone who plays well when he feels like it and goes missing in other games. If someone gave him a proper kick up the arse; and maybe the guy thought his livelihood depended upon putting in 100% week in, week out, we may see what the guy can undoubtedly do ( ala his all too brief flashes of brilliance):( We've never got to grips with the goalkeeping position for years now, conference including ( bearing in mind the keepers that got us up were on loan) and the one and only decent keeper we had since our return to the league was K.A. and admittedly, probably due to financial constraints, we never have replaced the guy. Boozer has at times, been a refreshing alternative to Dunbavin; and if it was a straight choice between the two, then the Boozer gets my vote. If, and I'd say this honestly, we write off promotion or play-offs this season ( which compared to the relegation dogfight which we've avoided comfortably this season means this season is a massive achievement given the problems we've overcome) then Coley must be looking to build. I'd hope the No 1 spot is his top priority, I think that, given we keep the back four and the main men in defence, maybe a couple of additions in defence would help to shore up that department. I'm a great believer that a defence plays better with a good keeper behind it; and resolve the keeper problem, I think we may tighten up the goals against problem.:o Midfield..... I think we've got more than enough talent there, maybe one addition who can play wide would supplement what we've already got. Up front, keep what we've got and maybe a couple of additions to keep the main men on their toes. Kee won't be here next season (unless of course Leicester decide to release him surplus to requirements) but keeping Symes and Grant is a must. Also giving Chris Turner a contract is a must. Despite the lad being injured, he's shown more than enough to warrant another contract. It shows how high in regard the lad is held when other clubs ( including our rivals ) are sniffing around. Released, for me would be : Dunbavin, Murphy, Miles, Mullin. I'd keep Richardson (providing he can get fit and prove it, his experience and ability would be like signing a new player)....:) .....and McConville would be fringe next term, possibly going out on loan to get the lad some experience. I think he may prove to be another Grant given a little time and patience. I don't think we've any chance of the play offs, even though still mathematicaly possible, so why not give a few fringe players a run??? I liked the look of Bee Ami, and maybe giving King a run and maybe one or two of the youngsters ??? Anyway, nice to be posting this type of post in March knowing we're safe!!!:D |
Re: New Contracts?
Carpon - you've got it spot on - after watching Redash' link to the goals yesterday - Dunbavin was at fault for both IMHO. 1st he just dropped to the floor after the ball came through a crowd, but he should have seen the shot, 2nd, yes the ball had a wicked swerve on it, which he saved, but should have pushed it higher over the bar or alternatively in this case, should have followed the ball off the bar and either a. caught it or b. punched it clear. Comedy goal.Time to get a league goalkeeper in for next season. Are Charlton releasing any of theirs? Or maybe Man Utd want to dump Van de Sar for being in his 40's.

Re: New Contracts?
Randolph is being released at the end of the season ;)
|
Re: New Contracts?
Mullin and Richardson must go, they have contributed nothing in the last 18 months and have cost us plenty in doing so!!
Chris, Phil and Jimmy, all have another season, so no issues there :) Would like to see Kempo stay – he has been solid all season :) Winnard has played good enough – out of position – to earn another year. Would like to see Bobby, Symes and Kee stay with us, though I cannot see Symes staying with us :( I would offer Proccy and Milesy another year and I think that Joyce has done enough to be offered another year. McConville has not done enough for me and should go. From what I have seen of Flynn, he is good, but cannot see him with us, as he has not been used enough. Murphy has not had a chance for the second season in a row, so hard to comment on him. Gary King falls into the same category, of not having been given a chance. I would like to have similar replacements/loans for Bouzer and Lees, both have performed OK. Bavs will be OK as a second keeper, but we need a good number one. Overall, I think that we need new faces at the back, rather than up front. If we could have improved as well in defence, as we have in attack, we would be in play-offs or above!! Stay, in no order:- Bavs, Jimmy, Chris, Phil, Kempo, Bobby, Symes, Miles, Proccy, Winnard. Go:- Mullin, Leam, McConville. Of the players that we have on loan, I would love to have Kee, Lees and Flynn, signed up for us next season!! Just my opinion, no doubt that Coley, amongst others, will have his own :D :) :) |
Re: New Contracts?
sure agree with yer 3 who should go, but think Dunbavin should make it 4, agree with carpon, a defence plays better with confidence in its keeper, never noticed a great deal in him. fer my money if stanley are to progress, coley needs to start afresh wi the keeper slot. Boozer will no doubt be gone back,

Re: New Contracts?
With the recession I reckon Coley can find an experienced keeper, someone who can really organise the defence. On top of that I'd like to see a new set of full backs and consistency on the wings. I would like to see a new striker as well.
To stay: Procter, Edwards, Kempson, Miles, Joyce, Ryan, Winnard, Turner, Symes, Murphy, King and Burton. I think the last four need to be given a chance next season and the rest speak for themselves. To go: Grant (tribunal money), Richardson (doesn't play enough), McConville (not good enough), Mullin (see Richardson) and Dunbavin (see Bournemouth game). Loans: Bouza (if we can get him on a free), Kee (if we can get him back), Lees (see Kee), Flynn (easily replaceable) and McCarten (see Flynn). |

Re: New Contracts?
After the last 2 or 3 months, of what can only be described as a run of poor results and a lack of form, how - if at all - would anybody view their opinion of the squad today???
|
Re: New Contracts?
That's a very tough question from the outside looking in, I would think we have the basis of the spine of a decent team with some flesh on it, just one or two areas that need a bit of fleshing out:
A Number one has to be a pririty A Natural Left Back-moving Winnard to Right Back A left sided midfielder Another centre Back At least another centre forward but that hinges on if the two main lads stay if not we may need more. The Bench at times has looked strong but at times has also looked weak for whatever reason Coley has not used the options much from the bench. I would think size a similar in number squad as this season but maybe with a little more experience, mixed with the ones staying who have played another season in the League, a couple of loan signings and we won't be far off next season. Would also be nice to be hinder free from the embargo to give us choices come January or when the loan window is open just to add sensibly. It will be good and no doubt be dabatable for us all who comes & who goes in the Summer:) |
Re: New Contracts?
Heres my keep list and wish list:
Keep Bavs - good as no2 keeper Edwards, Kempson, Winnard - rotate these 3 in central defence Ryan, Miles, Joyce - rotate these in central midfield Turner - wing Symes, Grant - if they want to stay Need No 1 keeper Left back Right back 2 wingers Back up striker - Kee if available 2 'utility' midfielders - possibly proctor as one (but not as skipper) 2 'utility' defenders - possibly leam if can prove fitness |
Re: New Contracts?
Football Manager 2010/11 time.
Let's presume all current loanees are gonners and that we can keep hold of key players. Release Dunbavin, Richardson, Mullin, Burton and King. Keep Edwards, Kempson, Winnard, Turner, Procter, Ryan, Joyce, Miles, McConville, Grant and Symes. Keep Murphy as cover for right back and Ami as cover for centre-half. Goalie is the priority on the shopping list. We don't need to sign another for cover; promote yoofie Molloy to first team squad as back up and keep him fit in the ressies. We need a left-footed left-back and a striker. That gives us a contracted squad of 17 with two goalies, six defenders, six midfielders and three strikers. Flesh it out with loanees; one defender, one tough tackling midfielder and a striker with a bit of strength. Make Edwards captain. Win the league with 111 points and a +60 goal difference :D |

Seriously though, when he played for us against Burnley in the SOS Cup I thought his reading of the play was superb for a young lad. There were a couple of basic mistakes but overall I was impressed. I was less impressed though when he played against us in the pre-season friendly. |

According to Galway United they signed him in February, yet he played for Rossendale utd the other week

Re: New Contracts?
Watched a lot of academy and prem reserve team football ie; 17 to 21 year olds and i was more than impressed with accis Alan burton , If he has a bit of luck, stays clear of injuries and is not thrown in at the deep end,he will become a top player

Re: New Contracts?
Joyce keen to stay on at Accrington Stanley (From Lancashire Telegraph)
This is good positive stuff players wanting too stay at Stanley, be nice to get players signed up before the end of May or even better before the end of the season:) Stop Clubs coming in taking players from under our noses and if they do and are under contract at least money goes into the pot |
Re: New Contracts?
A new Keeper is top priority, Dunbavin isn't good enough :(and young Bouzanis, whilst he's shown promise, Liverpool probably wouldn't release him and all the chopping and changing between the two shows that Coley doesn't know who is the better of the two.
However, I happen to think neither are good enough to be a first choice keeper; and this means a new goalkeeper is top priority. Next on the list are two full backs. Players who are naturals at full back. We may have one who has missed the season with injury ( Richardson), but if we assume he can't make it back from injury the same player, these are the next two positions that have to be filled. Before the pro Cavanagh brigade start shouting, we're talking about moving the club forwards. By bringing back Cav, which would cause unrest, I think we'd only be papering over the cracks. Whilst Cav was a good servant to the club in the past, despite what anyone thinks about his misdemenours; and forgive and forget and all that; what we need is new blood. Hence two full backs are a must. We have more than enough creative talent in midfield, even if at times they seem not fully motivated. Before the "Coley Out" brigade start, this end of season slump is doing certain players no favours, If in charge, I know whose arses I would be kicking now, they shall remain nameless, however one quality addition to centre midfield and a wide man ( on either flank) would spice up that department. Up front, we need the main men (ala Grant & Symes ) to sign on the dotted line. I'd be praying for Leicester to get up in the play offs (that might mean Billy Kee is surplus to their requirements) but I stilll think we miss someone with Paul Mullin's muscle. If Coley can dig somebody out like that then all well and good.... I'll throw a couple of names into the mix..... the lad Tubbs (plays for Salisbury, has 30 odd goals for them this season, a.k.a. F.A. cup game) and Purcell from Darlington. ( he might want to stay playing league football??) However, If the Bellylaugh ( L.E.T. ) is to believed the budget is pretty much the same for Coley next season. That means chopping and changing, but for me, he has to keep Chris Turner and Grant. Very Saleable assets, both with promise.:o If Symes' agent has turned the guys head and promised him greener grass, It's pointless being held to ransom. Better to look elsewhere and learn the lesson. (i.e tie the replacement, if good enough, down to a proper contract) |
Re: New Contracts?
Hopefully keep Turner, Winnard and Grant. All 3 will be big sellable assets in the future. Deano was wanted by Doncaster last Summer that says a lot for him.
Releasing too many would be a nightmare for Coley but guess it's the same story every year! Think Purcell is a brilliant call from the poster above, has looked very lively whenever I've seen him play. |

Agree in the main, but this is the most important thing for us next season!! :) Good post Carpon. |
Re: New Contracts?
Good Post Carpon
Just two points that we need to take into account: 1) Will they appear on our scouting radar 2) If any of these players are under contract then we can forget it It will be a Summer of wheeling & dealing, the biggest problem is going to be I would expect not uncovering just one nugget but possibly up to six and that is a big ask for anyone:eek: We have a nucleus of probably twelve players add six to that and we are up to eighteen, throw in a couple of loan signings and we are up to twenty which is a reasonable size squad for us, so long as embargos are avoided it still leaves us options in the free transfer or loan market at stages of next season. |
Re: New Contracts?
A point that most people seem to be missing is that the playing staff is based on a set budget which is normally given to the manager before the pre season gets under way.
Someone may correct me but i am sure this was reduced by a third last year. Hence do you pay over the odds on bringing in one player or spread the budget to bring in unproven players. The average age of the team this year is approx 21 with 6 or 7 being 20 or under. On a limited budget you cant have it both ways and is reliant on the manager selling the club rather than paying money |
Re: New Contracts?

Re: New Contracts?
a point is also, we don't really know what budget will be available to coley, last years was understandable if yer correct, yes it will be limited, but same as any club, to its own circumstances, coleman fer my money has worked wonders in the past wi peanuts, proving ya don't always get monkeys fer em. and to pendle red, both points are correct imho, but do'es anyone know to what extent our scouting radar is? fer my money, one of the most vital sections of any small club.

Re: New Contracts?
its no big secret , to progress the club you need to entice first division standard players to play in the second division, the main stumbling block is money or lack of it !
The other way is to sell the club as a stepping stone to get games and experience under a young players belt. Take wigan ath in the prem league give players a stage and then cash in on them ie palcious , valencia etc. I think coleman knows exactly what he is doing and will know even now what is required for next season its just a case of agreeing terms. What puzzles me is players who dont realise that not giving 110% now could be playing themselves out of a contract for next season |
