Cheltenham

Hello friends
Arguably the earliest posting of a match thread ever?

I thought it might be an idea to put all the match related stuff on one thread so that you can get the build-up, preview, stuff during the game and post match reaction in one place.

Build-up for Cheltenham has started, you can read an interview I did today with Jimmy Ryan about the game at ASFC News Story > 3787 - if you click on the link at the bottom you should hear the interview itself - about two minutes or so of it.

If this is a bad idea tell me!
Dan

What's the situation with Kevin Long? Nothing mentioned in the preview. Has his loan been extended or has he gone back to Burnley?

His loan has finished although Stanley want him back for the season. However given that Burnley have a new manager due tomorrow it could be he wants to try and impress the new man and win a place in the squad back at Burnley.

11th Jan wasn't it ?

shakermaker 14-01-2011 15:31

Re: Cheltenham

Sorry, for some reason I had the date '15th January' in my head, therefore presumed that the deal ended after the Cheltenham game.

Lost in Cornwall 14-01-2011 16:21

Re: Cheltenham

Looking back on the fishy site it says 11th which is why I asked the question. I thought the management situation at Burnley might have something to do with it but was surprised nothing has been said regarding him playing tomorrow or not.

lancsdave 14-01-2011 17:39

Re: Cheltenham

According to the LT he is available

Quote:

Stanley had announced that Long’s loan would expire on January 11 but he will in fact be available for one last game tomorrow before the full 93 days of his short-term loan are up.

Oh I don't know, might not be the same shade but when looked at with different glasses it can turn people's heads and which club they watch. Your loss is our gain ;)

Greetings from Gloucestershire friends.
It's blowing a gale - more on that later.

The news is that Stanley are unchanged.

The 18 is the same as against Bury - Bav, Winnard, Long, Edwards, Jacobson, Procter, Barnett, Ryan, Putterill, McConville, Gornell
Subs: Cisak, Hessey, Richardson, Joyce, Parkinson, Murphy, Boulding

Re: Cheltenham

The playing conditions are going to be a bit interesting this afternoon. It's extremely windy at pitch level and the pitch is a little threadbare in places (Cheltenham ground share with Gloucester City here I believe)

Stanley's players should be used to less than ideal conditions though eh?

Cheltenham are also unchanged from their last outing, a 1-1 draw at Northampton.

The whole Stanley squad has travelled, so while the players in the starting eleven go in for final instructions the rest are having a shooting drill on the pitch.

Times like these that you realise how many players there are in the squad!

Is Bavs a new attacking weapon?

The home side tried to respond, but could only muster a low free kick from Marlon Pack straight at Ian Dunbavin and a promising run from Wes Thomas that was ended by a header from the Stanley keeper.
