It was not the chosen few as such, as stated it was people who would pass it on and we have, hence this thread by Macca!!!

We have also spoke with people face to face and by that telephone thingy!!

Please read back through, loads of folk in a room heckling, don't get the message out there.

Mr. Shaw and others have tried to pass this info on, better that than waking up one morning and seeing on the television, that we have a winding up order, to the tune of £308K!!!

Please, let's all pull together for the sake of the club!!!

:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Sorry, Rob. Still trying to get it straight in my brain cell. By "the details", do you mean the £100k debt to HMRC?

And I'm still not clear who called the meeting - or why. If it was to disseminate information by gossip, surely that would suffer from the Chinese Whispers syndrome. I would have thought that whoever called the meeting had a duty to make some formal statement after it, unless the purpose was to make known some information without it being credited to anyone.

I have had enough of listening to the non stop why weren't we invited mob. It has been explained over and over again and if you can't understand it then im sorry. This has just made me decide to walk away from the whole friggin thing, I am bo longer prepared to give up my own time to attend meetings or whatever concerned with ASFC if all that happens when we impart information to you all, we get nothong but moaning and complaining. It has peed me off no end and i want nothing more to do with it.

You have been given the FACTS now its up to you to do with them what you see fit.

Who isnt pulling together for the sake of the club???(post 53)my view on this sorry mess.

But i think a statement from peter for those fans who were not invitied to the meeting would be better than a few minutes of recording from the meeting what was then deleted and the rumour mill going into overdrive.

As the saying goes hear it from the horses mouth :)

Stanleymad 18-02-2011 13:31

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

To answer RR post and to put the conspiracy minds at rest once & for all:-

The meeting was held with a small cross section of fans, from all corners of the ground represented, osc, assf & ultras including the mix as well as me from accyweb modding point of view.

The reasons being the small meeting was as i gather as follows:-

* to get the points of the trouble stanley is in, in a general overview without not being heard over crowd, heckling and wavering bring the meeting that lasted an hr to several hrs and point getting nowhere or lost, also not involving arranging bar staff and that dodgey microphone

* to get the 'general' view of concern thats boundering about the stands and opinion/thoughts etc of whats happened over the past months and what the immediate future could hold.... we was told 'be prepared for pain' and deduce possible admin, point deduction, even rele from league as the extreme - BUT there is still going to be Accrington Stanley FC reassured!

* note that the blow of the ^^ above would be no surprise and still shock the hope is that the fans who was there would inform other fans who wasnt present, what the update is and to be put forward to the fans by the fans in any format [other than audio/video] and hope of softening the blow by compassion of fellow fans than director preacher style, Peter Shaw is a Fan when said and done as well as new director, and is his way of keeping the transparency as best he could. Word travels fast! So everyone is now in the loop and can be prepared for saturdays meeting before it happens, also we asked that there should be an update as to what is/isnt decided and fate asap ie sunday was suggested by fellow supporter.

I am not questioning why peter held the meeting or how he did (that is his chocie) but simply asked for the full facts of the meeting and I thought that a statement from peter himself would of be more helpful..........but that is just my view

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

Thanks for that, Stanleymad.

Certainly I have no "conspiracy mind". From over 200 miles away, the sequence of events is very difficult to piece together - but that does not mean that I (and others) will have no interest in it. My understanding now is that Peter Shaw called a meeting of "a small cross section of fans from all corners of the ground" and at this meeting it was said (amongst other things) that ASFC would owe £100k to HMRC by the end of this month.

That figure, however, has now been disputed by the club's CEO.

He's done what he has done - ilyas style than rob's style:D

Seems some people think that cos we know we're bullcrapping, why would fans do that to the stanley family ?? We've had written statements before and even then people have pulled it apart or they've shot emself - so theres no pleasing in transparency and we wonder why nowts said or done taking the EW approach:rolleyes:

Good blumming point! We should remember that, LOOK we cant DO anything about it now, its gonna be decided in London tommoz - least we have some good directors there trying their damness to protect and damage limitate as best as they can, so we can have a football club at the end of it and a HOPEFUL resolution to the ownership issue - its a GREAT kick start.

Lets not give the 2 plonkers who screwed it up any satisfaction! We are the stanley family and not taking the crap tinpot running anymore :thankya:

post 1

by the end of this month we'll owe that taxman around 100k.

we have nowt coming in.

the difference between incomings and outgoings is massive and we won't pull it around.

there is a directors meeting planned in London this weekend and big decisions have to be made. I have no knowledge of what these decisions are about but I can guess.

Its going to get messy but the only good news I can take from it really is that it is finally coming to some sort of head. With a bit of luck it'll all be over for the new season - it's just a question of how much pain can we take between now and then

seems to me to be the overall feeling of the meeting not facts

then post 92

Therefore every single thing that was discussed will not go on here no matter how much blood people bay for. The important stuff came out though and will not be held back.

Then RH says its all wrong no crisi meeting not 100K

so it leaves some fans rather confused

but it seems asking questions on here causes out rage

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

no at all Katei, asking for the facts of the meeting when they were already posted (in the very first post) might though!

whatever Rob Heys has said before or after the meeting is irrelevant, post 1 is the facts of the meeting - the bluff and bluster between the facts are also irrelevant.

Rob or any other employee of the club will always understate the true nature of things, a supporter who wishes to ensure transparency of the club and who also thinks that we are entitled to know the truth - and I agree. I'm of the opinion that I have no reason to doubt someone who has never told me a lie, and every reason to doubt the word of somebody who has publically never given a straight answer in his professional career.

Keep to the facts that we're provided. We owe the tax man, understandably our income is far less than our outgoings and theres a meeting on Saturday with those who 'run' the club to discuss the matter.

as it says we owe the taxman around 100k in the post but those who listened to the recording before it was removed(understand why it was removed) were told of other debts and other issues so what is fact?

the club owes the taxman around 100k only?or is there any other facts or is it just hear say from the rumour mill?

all im trying to do is get the true facts of what is known to date as it not the best point of information the rumour mill

I think everybody is going round in circles now. May be best if everyone just waits to see what transpires in the next 48 hours, I'm sure given the fuss this has made an 'official' statement will be made to clear the air and confirm which ever side of the story is true.

Where does the Premier League stand in all this? It is the greed manifested there that has had a knock-on effect in the Football League, yet many Premier League clubs seem able to accrue huge debts without any kind of problem.

Totally agree RR. The whole football system is devoid of logic and full of greed. The rules hould be the same for all. Was looking at Football League rules the other day ( geek time :) ). If Stanley don't file last years accounts by the end of the month they are under a transfer embargo, as would any other league 1 & 2 club. However the Championship teams can take another 12 months

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

It is puzzling how some think that the only possible alternative to a closed meeting in the Gazelle was to 'hunt for ages to find a venue in which a herd of Red fans would heckle and bay for blood'. I would like to know when and where this precedent for Stanley fans 'baying for blood' was set. It must have been a traumatic experience for it to have affected considerations on how to treat fan meetings in such a way. Crikey.

Anyway, this isn't about who was or who wasn't invited to a meeting (although it is all-so-easy for those invited to accuse those non-present of being jealous of an invite). To divide our fanbase over such a trivial matter would be farcical.

It's just quite clear to me and several others that this meeting was a misguided, mistimed and possibly misinformed cock-up.

For once I find myself agreeing with Katei. Until the club admits these claims, HMRC issue a winding-up order or some other creditor gets the bailiffs in, all we have is word of mouth. (That's not to knock the credibility of anyone at the meeting or giving out information.)

As Stanley fans we have learned to 'believe it when we see it'. Whether it's coming from the club or a fan nominated to the board, skepticism must be employed both ways. There's just too much crap flying about to believe it all. We can only trust original sources. It might be different for some of you, but I don't count a fan nominated to the board as an original source. And I repeat, that's not knocking anyone's stature, reputation or character.

I don't doubt that the club is in deep dogchod. It's quite clear to anyone who has come within two miles of an abacus in their lifetime that Stanley cannot support itself with the way that it is run. However, the stories are all-too-blurred and feelings are running all-too-high at the moment. It's much easier to see when the dust settles.

I'd rather wait 'til we hear from Ilyas.

Only time will tell if that's correct or not. However this sort of thread would have kicked off as soon as the Observer came out anyway, the denial of the debt was not as a result of the meeting, it preceded it because of rumours earlier in the week and the press started asking questions.

Press start digging Rob says we owe £30k.

Stanley organise a quick meeting before the do do hits the fan because they haven't told anyone.

My club's forum is full of people who claim to have inside knowledge, others who defend the club come hell or high water and the rest who think they can manage the team better than the manager. I come here for a break :D

I don't want to stir up the hornet's nest, but if we weren't passionate about our Club, there wouldn't be this amount of emotion displayed in this thread ... and I don't mean last night's gay exchanges ;)

People were invited to a meeting with Peter Shaw as representatives of different sections of the Club's fanbase and so have a responsibility to report back to them.

So far, we have "the end of this month we'll owe that taxman around 100k", "we have nowt coming in", and "the difference between incomings and outgoings is massive and we won't pull it around".

The meeting lasted an hour from what has been said on here, so beyond the 10 seconds that it takes to say the above, what else is there to report?

My specific questions to our representatives at the meeting:
  • Has the £250,000 PL parachute payment already been received in full and spent?
  • If £100,000 will be owed to HMRC by the end of this month, are there other significant debts also owed that are likely to lead to court action in the short term?
  • Have the players' wages been paid in full and on-time?
  • Is the course of action being asked of fans (other than to support the 'Back the Boys' campaign) to wait for the decisions of the Board meeting today or to be prepared for another SOS Appeal.
  • Were there any other courses of action available to the fans?

Disclaimer, the answers given are not 100% fact as I have no proof but can tell you what I'm aware of. Before anybody wonders why I was there, I wasn't invited, I was on chauffeur duty so I gatecrashed as there was no security on the door :)

1. I got the impression the parachute payments are paid monthly, don't know when they started or when they finish.

2. A figure of 40k was banded about, no mention of wehter that would end in court action

3. Yes and No.

4. Wait. To be honest another SOS appeal would bring in very little, I can tell you from being a supporter of another club you will get very little sympathy again as you did first time round.

5. See 4

Geeee shoot the messengers katei!!! We're doing our best, tho when told of debts we didn't need an itinerary of who's owed and what, about 40 grand is about 40 grand of bills that's not being paid, worryingly some small businesses are effected in that but it's not privy of us to ask, fact of the case is 40 grand is owed excluding tax man and that's all we need to know at this stage, some of that money was un necessary and the need of good management at top is a necessity in order to control outgoings. The accounts won't be filed in time as accountancy is in that amount again no figure to compute but example of required outgoings as example to what kind of bills we have.

Does that spell it out more ???

no figure of 40k was posted thou and this is what i was tryin to work how much debt do we know about in total to date.......is hard to work out when information is drip fed ......

another 40k to other business
but all wages have be met?

i didnt hear the recording but was told of what was in it.....so that is why i am asking to make sure it was what was said or the rumour mill again

They are the figures mentioned yep. Wages presumably at the end of the month. Could have done with a Man Utd game next week instead of Torquay.

My specific questions to our representatives at the meeting:

Has the £250,000 PL parachute payment already been received in full and spent?
Some cash from parachute payments, though did not know/think it was £250k???

If £100,000 will be owed to HMRC by the end of this month, are there other significant debts also owed that are likely to lead to court action in the short term? The estimate of monies owed at the end of Feb, is in the region of £200k, taxman (wages stuff) Accountants, Mobile phone bills, local businesses, Etc.

Have the players' wages been paid in full and on-time? Yes, just late!!

Is the course of action being asked of fans (other than to support the 'Back the Boys' campaign) to wait for the decisions of the Board meeting today or to be prepared for another SOS Appeal.

Were there any other courses of action available to the fans?

Those are the things that I can remember!! Combined and the other little sponsor, have gone bank - £40k lost revenue, playing budget over spent by £200k by end of season!! There may have been other things, but I cannot recall :) :)

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

Well done to Stanley today and all those who travelled to support the lads.

Going off the last 12 months and the sheer mess of the last crisis I would hope that a official written statement either by Mr. Khan, Mr. Marsden, or Mr. Hays, preferably signed by all of the board is released at the earliest possible moment. Any delays in getting the truth out in an open and transparent way will only turn people off. What's needed is a positive and clear message to the supporters of the situation and what we can do to assist the club once more; hopefully with Mr. Khan or Mr. Marsden in overall control. I don't think it is fair to expect either man to keep putting his hand in his pocket; but a major contributor or benefactor at the helm would help to draw the fans back to the crown and hopefully a secure future. But no more negative mud slinging by anyone; if the club can't be saved let us go out with dignity.

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

as far as i am aware we would still have a club but may be not in league two due to losing 10 points

duggie 19-02-2011 21:12

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

here's my theory, let the company (club) go into admin after winning another 6 points (after today), receivers will try selling the business as a going concern at a vastly reduced price,EW will loose out big time ( good) Mr K will snap up up the dregs and offer shares to the crowd at £100 each
This club can't move on until the rat bedding expert curls up his toes and finally moves away from the club, lets all chip in £500 quid and the debts gone ! (it's the price of a good season ticket at DingleLand)

worse than waiting for a baby's arrival this - reckon it could be Monday earliest before any official statement. If nowt said before Crewe I'll be worried about lightning striking twice in 49 years ! Lets hope it turns out to be a 'new birth', eh.

I think there's more chance of lightning physically striking than any other coincidence they are playing Crewe next :)

In 62 they closed the door....
...I was there, 10 years old, and skriked my eyes out.

We would have died but for Jack Barret, Jimmy Hinksman.....
....and a small band of Stanley legendary fans.

In 72 I played a few games for the reserves......
....I was too soft in the tackle but was good at hurdling!

Last season we nearly went again but for Ilyas.....
....and now we're struggling once again.

We can blame who we want...... but please, please, please.....
..... let's stick together and keep our famous club together.

Long term, let's trust that Ilyas has a plan....
...Short term we need some brass...

So why don't we all try to treble the gate at our next two home games....
..... by bringing two friends each and make them fully fledged Ultras so that they have to SING and SHOUT proper SUPPORT for the lads on the pitch and for Coley and Jimmy
ON STANLEY ON
