Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

As above on the ST prices they represent really competitive price banding especially in the early bird period.

When you consider some of the prices Rovers have been able to offer on their's or other offers they have rolled out but they have have been able to offset against PL money to help with those iniatives.

It is difficult for Stanley to compete but the pricing for the season tickets especially this year will be crucial in this period of fiscal tightning.

The pre-pay scheme is a good idea to help offset the cost by saving a little bit as you can which helps so maybe even more this time round it is crucial the Club continue to get it right as also the money from season tickets is probably a major source of income for the Club particulary during the close season where money coming in will take a hit.

ST holder, I think that my ST gives great value and I have no issues what so ever with any "Specials" that come throughout the season, as they are - in the main - in a bid so drum up more support!!!!!!

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

Thanks to the reduction of age to concessions two ST holders here too, no objections at all to any offers for non ST.Lets get these offers cheap, lets face it the team going to play even if no-one watching, so good offers a bonus. Bring in cash when its needed.

I know the club house had been cleaned before we went in but there's a difference between clean for a 'pub' and clean for a bunch of toddlers crawling around the floor!!! :D

I am currently working on the project and the community trust will update through their website when the project is up and running. If you want to check out the website, please click on my signature and have a mooch round at some of the stuff we are doing.

I too would have concerns about using the clubhouse for a parent/toddler group not just with it be clean but also safe for a group of toddlers,I didnt feel so safe last night sat under the hole in the celling lol

Im not saying that all ST holders are not happy its good so many are happy but its no good just saying oh well most are happy all ST holders should be happy, although this would a hard job I think the club such strive to ensure least 90% are happy

Spoke to Lew last night and Stanley store goods will be on sale in the crown on sat 26th :) lets see how well it goes down and maybe its something what could happen each home game :)

the article pretty much just says that if EW doesn't get his arse into gear with settling up then it may force Stanley into administration. Basically Ilyas has said that he will support the club in the short term once the ownership issue is sorted out (ie he aint paying for things until its sorted). He goes on to say that EW has been co-operative but nothing has been signed yet.

On the letters page there is also a letter from Steve O'Brien who used to be the reserve team manager amongst other things, saying that the club owes EW a lot for all he has done over the years.

bet O'Brien aint saying, everyones aware of the good E.W. did, n also destroyed "ALL" credibility by lack of action by himself n DoN, when the club went to court. but for Mr Khan the club would have been history, if E.W. is to gain any credibility back, then he should sever ties P.D.Q. no-one should ever forget that.

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

I really hope we dont go down the administration route, one of the few things we have been able to take pride in is the fact that we have always managed to sort out our problems without avoiding paying them. We have a decent chance of making the play-offs too but with a ten point deduction this would go out of the window. I would also be worried about what effect this would have on JC, he has already said he would be interested in the Bradford job maybe this might be the final straw to push him over the edge. He has built up a good squad for this season and admin would result in possible redundancies and a firesale of players to pay off debts. Also by going into admin would this not make EW the main creditor and wouldn't he have the final say on any agreement for a CVA?

Maybe not what we want to hear but at least that lays it all on the line.

From a fans point of view we just have to sit with everything crossed and hope that administration is not the route it can be a means to an end of that there is no doubt.

But as BDC has said one thing the Club thanks to Ilyas & others can take pride in is debts have been settled & problems sorted, I too would worry on not just the short term effect but longer term of any points hit.

I do take a little heart from the fact Ilyas say's EW has been co-operative but at such a pivotal time in the fixture list & league table positions it has to come to a conclusion sooner rather than later for everyone concerned with the Club.

Please sort it out

I would like to echo that Pendle Red . If EW had Stanley at heart he would do the right thing and sign . Is it unfair what the fans are being put through , let alone the team and staff at the club. We can not go forward or make plans until EW signs ,almost like we are being held at randsome,..shame on you.

I would just like to add a little more to my last post. I do believe in the past EW has done a lot for Stanley and was once hailed a hero for it. Personally all I have seen is the TV programme a couple of years ago when Accrington Stanley were featured in a documentry ,the foul language used was a disgrace .
I truely hope the papers are correct in saying he is being co operative , we need it.

ok I haven't been able to get on here for quite a while so have just spent an hour reading through the whole thread and just want to make a few points...

Not being around for a while or hearing much of what has been going on I have to say that the first couple of pages I myself also read in confusion, not having a go at anyone but that was my general thought... ie I read with a quizzical look on my face but eventually it started to make sense, sorry but that is how I felt reading it

secondly, you would have thought by now that nothing would surprise us stanley fans and yet we still seemed to be amazed by a lot of the mishandling of the club as a whole

thirdly, I aim to be back very soon to watch my beloved team once again and hope it is in a more positive atmosphere, to match the positive results coming from games

finally

in Ilyas we have faith, I know I do and he is our new Mr Accy Stanley

cheers Ilyas :)

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

Good to see you back HR:)

Your post set me thinking back on everything that has happened over the last couple of years with the Club, Fans, Team etc. despite all the adversities that have come our way which sometimes it feels like there is no respite sometimes as one story unfolds another starts while another remains unresolved.

Then looking further back through the history books to see the rise of the "Old Reds" the photos are all that remain for those of us not old enough to remember Peel Park the glories and five figure crowds, for others who did see it there is also the sadness of seeing the demise of the "Old Reds" as crowds dropped and the Club struggled on before going out of existence.

Then six years later the Club was to re-form and begin the journey that brings us where we are today after climbing the ladder from oblivion back through the Football Pyramid to being a Football League Club something everyone connected to the Club can rightly feel proud of and part of.

We have a chequered history and proud traditions of facing adversity head on and still coming through the other side, that is down to so many people down the years and is still happening today on so many fronts from within the Club and outside of the Club.

The one constanst is the name Accrington Stanley and the images that name conjures up for all of us.

We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to still look forward to.

I suppose in all of this what I am trying to say as one chapter closes so another begins and with it will come challenges once again but hopefully this time we will be stronger for it with a united passion and belief that with Ilyas onboard things will move forward stronger.

On Stanley On

maccawozzagod 05-03-2011 11:48

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

i was thinking a similar thing the other day Neil. I am re-reading The Club That Wouldn't Die at the moment and there are so many parallels with disasters over the year that its untrue.

The number of times the Observer has been asked to print "we need more fans" is quite embarrassing and would lead one to believe that this town will never ever fully support its own Football League Club. But one thing that did strike me is the number of times the club has sought to annoy its own fans, with Google Page Ranking gaffe upon Google Page Ranking gaffe. I then wondered whether this was the mainstay as to why the town has resisted the club for decades?

If and when Ilyas' brave new world comes to fruition we must actively insist that one way or another we find a new direction, one that fully encompasses the spirit of the town, one that embraces the community and puts its people before its business plan. We can support the town in so many ways and hopefully a bit of that will come back through the gates. The club has always suffered from ebbs and flows on the crowd front, but unfortunately the high crowds have never really made up for the low ones - so the club will have to find ways of bringing in the money equivalent to an extra two thousand fans on the gate from another source.

I remember it well, being a wee small nipper going to the local school next door. I was heartbroke we had lost our town team. Although, it has to be said, I did not read the Guardian on that day.
Very poignant and timely reminder to the younger fans of Accrington Stanley. And to EW et al. Please do the decent thing and sign the shares over to the club (Ilyas) or whoever within the club heirarchy. We do NOT want a repeat of 49 years ago or even the threat of administration. Please go now whilst certain members of the community have good memories of what you have done and do not tarnish your own and Accrington Stanleys name, Thank you.

Admin at this stage in the season - after the February deadline - please correct me if I am wrong, but does it not depend on where we finish at the end of the season, as to when the points are deducted????

Re: Brace yourselves in again please ....

No. I think any points would be deducted now and it's only if you wait until the points deduction can't make any difference to this season that they're held over to the next.

Just had a look into this in the FA Rules handbook. The rules are as follows:
Taken from the FA Handbook.

14. INSOLVENCY pROVISIONS
14.A. SPORTING SANCTIONS
14.A.1 If an Insolvency Event shall occur in relation to any Club that Club shall be deducted 10
points. The deduction shall be made forthwith on the happening of the first Insolvency
Event.
14.A.2 Where a Club takes or suffers an Insolvency Event:-
14.A.2.1 during the Playing Season but prior to 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday in
March, the points deduction shall apply immediately;
14.A.2.2 during the Playing Season but after 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday in
March then Rule 14.3 shall apply; and
14.A.2.3 outside the Normal Playing Season, the points deduction shall apply in
respect of the following Season such that the Club starts that Season
on minus 10 points (including a Club or Clubs Relegated from the [ ]
League, where such Club shall be subject to Rule 14 of the [ ] League
Rules).

14.A.3 Where the circumstances set out in Rule 14.2.2 apply and at the end of that Playing
Season, having regard to the number of Competition points awarded (ignoring any
potential deduction):-
a) the Club would be relegated in accordance with The [ ] League Rules, the points
deduction will apply in the next following Season; or
b) the Club would not be relegated as aforesaid, the points deduction will apply
in that Playing Season and [ ] League Rules will then apply (if appropriate)
following the imposition of the points deduction.

How do you think Rob Heys' comments came about in the Observer?

Perhaps some 'i's to dot and 't's to cross before an announcement on the fishy site?

Accy Observer - "High Hopes For Future"

To sum up:

  • The battle over who owns the club is nearly over.
  • Settlement between the 3 parties is in the hands of the solicitors.
  • EW verbally agreed a settlement to relinquish his shares.
  • DO'N also agreed to a deal.
  • IK is confident it will be settled soon to avoid any threat of administration.
  • There are plans for a new share issue.
  • In hands of solicitors so can't give details of deal.
  • The staff have had to work under difficult conditions but have all pulled together.
  • Nobody at the club has been paid in full for last month.

It's about a legal case involving money and ownership that goes on and on and on...the title, 'Bleak House', is rather suggestive of Stanley's predicament at the moment, don't you think?*

*excepting on field performance
