I vote to take the seats out as it makes it better as is our selling point of terrace stadium to fans of other local football teams, but think a row or two should be kept just because people who like being sat behind the goal, and like the atmosphere of the Clayton end

mab 17-05-2016 21:56

Re: Clayton End development?

Strange one this,I think it should return to all standing but we've a new 1500 seat capacity stand which when given the go ahead will replacement whinney hill stand which at present holds roughly holds 800 yet we're not gaining an increase in capacity n can't understand why unless there's a plan to turn the Clayton end in to all seating like the artist impressions imply's. Just a thought.. But yep take the seats out nd with the new stand it would increase the capacity by at least 800 may be more with those new extra seats.

monkey hanger 18-05-2016 08:09

Re: Clayton End development?

totally agree with the comments on taking the seats out of the clayton end. that is if we can do it. I know at one time if you had seats then you could not remove them. I enjoy standing but prefer a side on view therefore I,ll stick with the jack barrett or moan stand as I prefer to call it.

Chimer 18-05-2016 08:51

Re: Clayton End development?

I'm beginning to enjoy sitting , and prefer being behind the goal, so quite like it the way it is. But for atmosphere, a full standing only Clayton End has to have it - and it would be a dreadful idea to make it all seating.

Inspector Morse 18-05-2016 11:04

Re: Clayton End development?

Standing in Clayton End sounds good- increase capacity and improve atmosphere.

But who will populate the new stand? We don't want to loose bodies from the Clayton End or the atmosphere will suffer.

Are we going to end up with a pristine new stand and no one to fill it?

If the ground capacity remains the same like its been stated, how does that come into it?

If you can sit and watch the game without your view being blocked by an endless trail of folk walking in front going for a tea/pee or by players warming up then maybe some of those from the existing seating stands will prefer the new one. It could become the New Moan Stand

Lots of big machinery on the ground at Accrington, proper pitch drainage Andy holt posted. On Twitter after his opinion poll about seats in Clayton end that Andy in discussion with the football league about it since 72% out of a total of 646 voted for no seats.

Absolutely not a knock of Mr Holt, but I still havent got a clue what work is going on at the ground.

On one hand it makes no difference to me (and by extension 'the fans'), but we like to yabber and get excited at the most ridiculous of nothingnesses.

The current works may be a culmination of nothingnesses, except for the seat evictions, but creating a general murmur of positive conversations regarding the wider plans may help to sway disillusioned Rovers fans

I'm not sure the seats will come out this season as fans have bought seated season tickets in the stand?

It just worries me a little because I understood that the seats were put into the Clayton End due to Football League regulations & unless the new stand is likely to be ready fo the start of next season could we be in breach of them? Not a criticism, just a concern

Maybe there's leeway if work is in hand to provide the requisite number of seats when the season starts?

Dav1d 02-06-2016 20:39

Re: Clayton End development?

Am sure this has all been done by the correct process With the league. What I worry is the fans that enjoy sitting in the Clayton end, that have already bought a season ticket for the Clayton end sitting. That now will have to move!

Dav1d 02-06-2016 21:00

Re: Clayton End development?

Andy holt says they have written dispensation from the football league who appreciate some of our ground issues, they know the plan and are helpful. Then he goes onto say we are all on the same side and they have not been onstructive and wants a better match day experience and they want more sponsors big or small, sponsoring stands, boards etc because he says once they get the setup better more fans, sponsers come equal more money for the management to build and retain a team.

Funny you should say that, Dave burgess tweeted saying its going to be a place to buy a pint and a pie his words are "will be hot food and drinks sold from

he stated at the last supporters meeting that the hot food will be basic at first e.g. tea coffee bovril and pies. at least any problems with catering might be sorted out easilier. seeing as the club are doing it i might give it a go myself as you know where its going and in time with sensible feedback could improve.

if the profits are going to the club and they are prepared to consider additional lines as suggested by the fan base, it could be a win/win
