Beattie: Yes or No?

Do you think Stanley play better with or without Beattie in the team?

I have the opinion that we play much better without Beattie and seem to be strongly at odds with others, just want to see what the general opinion is.

Re: Beattie: Yes or No?

From the start? No.

On the bench, to give us something different for the last 30 mins or to nick a goal, 100% Yes.

Wouldn't go that far. Just call a spade a spade.Me own opinion is our kids can do nowt but learn from 2 ex-england strikers, n think they are very astute signings.

Re: Beattie: Yes or No?

Agree with the opposition, Accybeme.
No-one player can be blamed for Stanley's poor performances this season. Beattie was nowhere to be seen at Torquay and Oxford when the rot set in. Equally, no one player can guarantee to make Stanley play as well as they have been doing lately. They all contribute to the team performances, some more or less on different days. Singling out Beattie for criticism says more about unreasonably high expectations of an ex-Premier league player who, we all know, is reaching the end of his playing career.
But used judiciously, and not as you would use a willing all-day runner like Amond, the likes of Beattie surely can bring a touch of experience and guile that the younger players will benefit from.

Yes to Beattie. Has real quality which is often so short at league 2 level.

Re: Beattie: Yes or No?

The fact that Stanley have an ex England international on their books gives the club publicity and the more of that the better! Ok so maybe he's a passenger sometimes but i for one always believe that while he's on the pitch he's "gonna score a goal"!
And i've been told that he doesn't take a penny from the club for his efforts.

Re: Beattie: Yes or No?

An absolute no brainer for me.....A resounding Yes for Beattie.

Bags of experience, he's probably lost a lot of his pace, but he still weighs in with crucial goals. In our final two games he may provide another crucial goal or two.

Playing him from the start....No......however used as an impact sub when we're chasing a result or trying to see one out....what better weapon to throw on.

At this level he probably causes opposition defenders increased worry, he still knows where the onion bag is and will probably be passing on valuable knowledge to the younger lads !!!

And I've also been told he's playing for next to nothing (as posted earlier )

And when it comes to attracting young players to the club, if we can retain the services of the likes of Beattie, Jeffers & Hunt for next season, what a great selling point / advert for the club Leam has..
