Re: Taylor Family – Oswaldtwistle, Rishton and Church.

It's a bit too late in the evening for me to post anything now, but I'll take a look tomorrow and get back to you with what I know. It's not a very long way but you never know.

Re: Taylor Family – Oswaldtwistle, Rishton and Church.

It is. I've struck lucky a few times with ancient forum posts, either contacting someone or being contacted from an old post, sometimes after many years. It's always worth a stab in the dark I think.

Re: Taylor Family – Oswaldtwistle, Rishton and Church.

Very interesting. It's a long while since I visited that part of our family tree. Give me a little time to revise and I'll get back to you.

Re: Antley 1900 "Not missed once"

Fascinating. I think it went on all over, my family (as opposed to my wife's with her Accy connections) are from South Wales which is also littered with non-conformist chapels from the same sort of...

Re: Antley 1900 "Not missed once"

Thanks, I'll do that. You've got me quite excited about the possibility of the Records Office having some useful information. I'm just having some success at the records office in Records Office at...

Re: Antley 1900 "Not missed once"

I've just sent a copy to the library. If any useful information comes back I'll post it here. Glad you liked the photo. Those two girls could be sisters couldn't they? Looks like they're wearing the...

Re: Antley 1900 "Not missed once"

This is the only picture we have I'm afraid, it came down through the family. As for the ages of the two children we know about, during 1900 Edith Woods had her 9th birthday, and Alfred his 7th or...

Re: Antley 1900 "Not missed once"

What, do you mean the address of the Woods family? They may have been at 27 Leyland Street in 1900 since that's where they were on the 1901 census. And by the time of the 1911 census, they were at 74...

Antley 1900 "Not missed once"

Here's a photo someone might be interested in. It's the pupils of Antley that never missed school during the year.

The boy holding the chalk-board is Alfred Woods and the girl one to the right...

Re: WW1 Soldiers.

It certainly ties in with all we know of Billy, I already had those names for his parents (except Elizabeth's surname) and she was born around 1866. I wish more counties had parish records online,...

Re: WW1 Soldiers.

Having said that, I looked at his service record again and he was apparently 21 years and 6 months in December 1915. So he could just have been 40 by June 1933. Perhaps it is him?

Thanks for your...

By the way, I meant to say, the photo shows Ben Cotter and Billy Houghton at work (well, resting) on the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1927.

Thanks both. There's some extra information in there that I wasn't aware of such as Billy Houghton's siblings who died in infancy, and place of marriage for his parents.

My interest is based on...

Crikey, sounds like a labour of love. I'm amazed you found what you sent to me so quickly if you have that much in your collection.

I can send you photos of a few more Pals in that case. I'll get...

Yes, I meant your local library, not mine. Windsor library doesn't even have much about Windsor I tell you. I'll have a bash at the British Library then, I've got a few other things to chase up as...

Oh thanks, yes that's him. And here he is (see attached). I've seen his listings on the Pals web site (absent voters and officers and men lists). Do you know of any other good sources of information?...
