correct. there's no mention of eric's agent. Agents act for players, acquiring clubs and selling/loaning clubs. the quote above relates to gary's agent

Re: Gary Roberts Gone!!!!!!!!!
Good luck Gary and thanks for all the goals! Its just one of those things. It might motivate the other players in the squad to take his place. things are not that bad. There are obviously things that we dont know about and probably never will.

Re: Gary Roberts Gone!!!!!!!!!
Whilst I am a Rovers fan (from Darwen) I've watched Accy a few times at home and been away to Northwich, Oldham, Southport and Bury over the last two or three years.
Being a Rover I'm a little less detached from the Roberts thing than the rest of you, although I was still disappointed when my mate rang me at work today to tell me the news.
However cheesed off, you simply can't stand in the way of the lad's ambition, and whilst money of course will come in to it, a move to the Championship and a club like Ipswich will be a dream come true. Hopefully, if he does well, Stanley should make a tidy sum out of the deal aswell.
I am sure everyone knows it was inevitable - I told a Bolton fan at work after the Bury game recently that Stanley would do well to keep hold of him and also again after his superb goal at Torquay.
Good luck Gary.

Re: Gary Roberts Gone!!!!!!!!!
I am absolutely gutted on one part but quite upbeat on the other. We HAVE to take the clubs word on this that this deal was right for the club (whatever that transpires to be) and right for the player (Meaning perhaps Gary himself might want to give it a go at a higher level as his form is top notch, a lot of people on here have already said - for which he cant be blamed).
I hope it works out for him - he stopped and had a chat with me, Ms Jimbo, ukcowboy and sparkie in Pafos and he had 8 or so mates with him - could have easily just waved and carried on walking, he couldnt stay long but he still offered to buy us a drink and said to me if there was a goal celebration he wanted me to do, he would do it!! Also had a chat about looking forward to the new season. Cracking fella and I wish him the very best.
If Ipswich fans are reading this perhaps theyll realise just by how many posts on this topic so far, how Gary might just have something to offer them and how many of us he has influenced either with his playing abilities on the grass or his friendliness off it or both...
Good luck Gary

Re: Gary Roberts Gone!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't around for the sale of Brett Ormerod, but after reading all the comparisons to the current situation in this thread I am curious as to whether anyone else finds it a bit funny that Gary's first game came against the side where Brett now plys his trade?

Re: Gary Roberts Gone!!!!!!!!!
All the Best Mr Gary Roberts, not quite a legend but will be always remebered for making history with the ASFC! & remember I nutmegged him in the fans game 2 seasons ago on the hallowed turf - he paid me back by buying my lager when I was turned down for being too drunk
AT ASDA in Aldershot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A good move for the lad who will obviously be "coined up" if Anthony's pay rise to Yeovil was anyhting to go by. Listened to commentray & Gary had a shot for the tractor boys then Brett ran down & hit one over the bar for Preston - How weird is that?
Players come & go, ASFC are for life. Trust Eric, John & Jimmy. Folk said the same about Barry, Brett, Rory etal..... Sing louder Saturday
PS Felix? Do yoiu really think someone would think Eric had an agent?

Looks like Gary doesn't want to be here anymore, I for one wish him well and hope he manages to get an international call up at some point. Gotta say though the writing was on the wall when he made certain comments after the club turned down Yeovil. Footballers careers are short nowadays and they've gotta make the most of it while they can.
Go on Gary, make us proud.

Re: Gary Roberts Gone!!!!!!!!!
Guys,
I was at ITFC game tonight and Gary came on for last 10mins (plus injury) and had a good start, considering he has only been here for a few hours. I'm pretty sure if a deal has been struck between the 2 clubs there will be a good fee as he is a quality player, if there is no deal he will again don the red shirt and have gained some 1st class coaching from a good structured club and bring his experience back to you. It was good to see some old fashion wing play, something that we have been lacking for a few seasons.
As I have put in another posting I am, in between a rock & a hard place on this subject as I follow both clubs!!
