In the ladies you can see a long worktop with two circles (basins) situated opposite the cubicle doors.

I never actually went in the gents - and you are right - there don't seem to be any basins.

Re: Planning Applications

The real problem with this scheme - if it does go ahead - will be that of parking. While there are a few spaces opposite the entrance to the club, these would be insufficient for the people whould be expected for a large function. When it was the club, of course, it was local and as such most people walked there at 8pm and staggered home at 11.30pm.

The nearest street is Tanpits Road, which as some of you are aware is now a rat-run between Henry St & Blackburn Rd (avoiding the lights). It's bad enough now, but if you are going to get double parking at night, it will be a nightmare and it won't be long before someone is killed.

As regards the Mosque deal, there is one already in the building which used to house the happy-clappy chapel and which was previously the site of the York St Co-op (that's going back 50 years or so). Because it has been designated a place of worship, then no planning permission is now required (although a mineret will be another story).

Parking has been the problem with a few of these schemes put forward as per James Street Club ... this is the letter from the Chartered Surveyor ... see last paragraph. Methinks the Surveyor doth protest too much.

No permission for dome on Blackburn mosque (From Lancashire Telegraph)

The dome is fixed to a bulit up felt roof that covers a "tank room", me thinks building regs, structural calcs.need I go on

Seems they have let this through:

Blackburn mosque dome is set to remain (From Lancashire Telegraph)

I hate these domes ... they are a complete blot on the landscape, tacky, blingy and totally out of character with the surroundings (rant over).

What does the article say......
A petition with more than 1,000 signatures has been submitted to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council calling for permission to be rejected.
The petition claims the dome was built “illegally” and objects to the number of mosques already in the town.
However, the application, by the Masjid-E-Saliheen mosque committee, is set to be approved when the planning committee, chaired by Labour’s Jim Smith, meets on Thursday evening.
In their assessment, planning bosses said the dome was a “prominent addition” to the building but did not detract from the local skyline.

I like that, "did or should it not be - does not detract from the local skyline" where are they looking, the thing is next to a childrens play area. The "dome" stands out like a sore thumb. It's great to be British

Yes, sorry .. it did say expects to be passed, as recommended. Will see.

And 'sore thumbs' hurt, don't they, just like my eyes bleed when I see these monstrosities :(
