Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Started reading the first chapter of The Railway Detective by Edward Marston which someone had left on the park and ride bus in Southport. Enjoyed it so much that I bought my own copy (having handed my find to the driver) and found it hard to put down. I have now purchased The Excursion Train which is the second book in a current series of five. I heartily recomment this series to crime readers and railway buffs alike.

"The Line Upon a Wind: The Great War at Sea, 1793-1815." Noel Mostert .... a real good read for those interested in fighting sail ... a must for lovers of Hornblower, Bolitho, and Aubrey. And as a companion ... "British Sea Power: How Britain Became Sovereign of the Seas", David Howarth. The early chapters are really fascinating.

the Discovery and Conquest of Mexico 1517-1521 . Bernal Diaz Del Castillo , (Conquistador) . English translation of eye witness account first published in 1575.
heavy going , this translation was done in 1908 so the style of writing takes a bit of getting used to , plus many of the place names have changed over the years |
