Re: What job sector do you work in?

One day a week i do an admin job which can encompass anything....... showing customers round the centre, typing, brewing up, filing, standing on reception looking pretty, answering the phone, gossiping, putting badminton nets up and taking em down, dragging curtains across a sports hall, jack of all trades. I also volunteer at credit union not every week when my name comes up on the rota. Rest of the time im either in bed or on here or out shopping or thinking i should be doing the cleaning, washing, garden.

Re: What job sector do you work in?

Im in a mix of 2 jobs really. I work at sayers, so im working with food but the job title is sales assistant. The best part of my job is meeting all the people who come into the shop and finding out alot about whats going on locally. The worst part is dealing with the professional drunks who argue about having to pay 5p for brown sauce (apparently its a sackable offence to hit a customer lol). The reason i got into this job is because i want to get into bar work so working with food and serving customers was a useful thing to have on my cv. Speaking of work i start at 8 so i really should go to sleep soon lol.

I'm a 'virtual' Bouncer for a local website, The best thing about the job is when people don't bounce but go splat instead, the worst thing about the job is Having to go outside for a fag break, (the blood sticks to my shoes).

I voted other ... it's the nearest thing to "self employed" that I could find.

Re: What job sector do you work in?

I used to work in a bank and in the beginning I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was more about helping people and sorting out their financial queries and caring about what was best for them. Shortly before I left it had become far more profit centred and all about targets and talking people into having insurance they didn't want and I hated it. We were not supposed to spend time sorting out their problems any more. I remember one elderly gentleman who'd always received a monthly pension and then suddenly it stopped and he was drawing on his savings. Eventually he'd have had nothing left - so I looked into it and contacted the pension company. They explained that periodically they send out letters to verify that the person is still alive. He should have brought the letter in to us and had his existence confirmed but he'd thought it was junk mail and thrown it out. Once I'd sorted out with them about sending a new letter to the bank and then got him to come in and sign it and witnessed his existence for them they reinstated his pension and he got back pay. He was chuffed to bits. He'd thought that because he'd passed a certain age he wasn't entitled to the money any more! Solving things like that was job satisfaction for me but frowned upon because it was unprofitable.
