They reckon that 4-8 pubs close in this country every day!!!!

The smoking ban has not been a good thing, this is coming from the barmaid side of me not the smoking side of me. I, having worked in pubs for years, have noticed a massive difference. Couple this with rent, rates & drinks price increases publicans don't stand a chance.

Emamums statement said it all about the pub trade nowadays. I personally don't and won't drink in my house, its just something i've never done. But lots of people do and this is why pubs are struggling.

But the government and the breweries aren't doing anything to help and aren't taking it seriously. But they'll realise eventually when they aren't getting the rates & rent from pubs and there are only big pub chains left. And don't even get me started on Sky TV!!!

Hoefully with the weather starting to pick up a bit we'll see a bit of a difference.

I know the feeling emamum, was ready for the off just after Easter then I got the dreaded lurgy, and I'm still breathing like a Perkins Diesel. I'm pig sick:eek:

What's a Perkin's Diesel then ?

Don't go into pubs much, as not acceptable for ladies on their own ... 'course go into them when with friends, etc., but don't think I would bother anyway, as not very relaxing now just to go for an hour or two and breaking off to sit outside in the cold.

Last week whilst at the Town Hall, had to go outside and sit on the steps .. Saturday night was lovely though. Nearly got picked up twice ...:D Ok.. not bragging or 'owt, think they must have thought my entertainment value extended beyond the stage :eek: ... a bit scarey really.

A perkins diesel katex is a rather large diesel engine which makes a hell of a sound when you first crank it up, then chugs away, very reminiscent of my chest at the moment, unfortunately:(

Beechy: Well, I don't go in the pubs in Clayton on my own, they would wonder what I was up to, and would look very sad ... :( Have gone in loads of restaurants, pubs on my own whilst travelling about the country, (usually for a meal though) and never bothered me, but 'round here' people still seem to frown on this.

Its true that katex when a woman walks into the pub on her own they all turn round and stare at you. If you are meeting someone then its not too bad. I dont like it either. Yes i do go into pubs on my own normally pool night unless entwisi comes and picks me up!!!! hint hint.... :D

Jaysay a sledgehammer has nothing on me..... He was the one who said when he asked me to join his team that he'd pick me up - which he has done once the rest of the time he aint been there!!! The rest of the weeks ive gone down myself either hiked it or caught the bus. :D:D:D
