P.M. me for an address, meet up with like minded people that want to socialise, without living in bus shelters, bring your own booze (cheap enough from asda), all I expect is help emptying the ashtrays onto the carpet and the occasional assistance whitewashing the walls, (please don't bring your own food I have a contract with a local take-away). :o

Well here in Ireland we have had the smoking ban for over three years now, and there has been no problems at all, Ireland was a nation of really heavy hardened smokers more so than in Lancashire where i was brought up, pubs have not lost trade, they have been being forward thinking in providing outside heated shelters for smokers, infact trade in many pubs have increased and most important l the employees pub staff, ect their health is not put at risk, everyone was good natured about the ban its a part of life its more pleasant to go to the pub, to eat there, and many thosands have given up the habit altogether there was one pub that said they would ignore it, but they lost their licence and faced a heafty fine apart from that there was no problems from pubs to nightclubs it makes for a more enjoyable night out, as for those who smoke goodlandlords who care about their customers will utitlise outside shelters and beer gardens for smokers, bt it has not affected trade at all

Am i the only smoker who's in favour of the ban?

Just come back from the pool and stood outside only had 2 cigarettes between 8pm and 11 normally i would have smoked more than that.

Well they would have been very soggy and hard to smoke if you'd had them in the pool :D;)

A 'No smoking on these premises' sign has just gone up in my 3 year old daughter's nursery. She's pleased as punch about it because she was sick of all the other kids and staff puffing away in there. It got right on her nerves.I was equally pleased when I saw in the paper that these signs will be put up in churches because all those people who sit in the pews fagging it are a complete menace and we will be glad to see it put to a stop.

No you are not shillelagh. I have no objections to the ban in principle. What I do object to is the totalitarian ban especially as the greatest polluter of them all – the infernal combustion engine more often than not driven by a sanctimonious non or recently stopped smoker – carries on polluting the atmosphere with impunity. Not forgetting industry, aircraft, barbies etc.

For anyone who took this seriously,it was written with tongue firmly in cheek. The places I have seen these signs over the last couple have days have had me chuckling to myself.Churches, nurseries, libraries,I never knew these places had a problem with people lighting up in them, they don't.No-one smokes in a nursery or in church so why do they feel the need to tell us now that it's forbidden?:D

Sorry Lilly – I put my serious head on this morning and forgot to change it.

However it does go to show that people will jump on any bandwagon.

In view of recent events and the high level of security, I personally feel that the wearing of Burkhas should be banned in public areas... and if not they do not adhere to this law, they to ought to be fined on the spot:
