I know it is unfair that the flag has been tarnished in this way- but it has. Therefore when a pub permanently displays the flag on its walls it usually (though I accept not always) reflects the political belief of the owner or patrons or both.

I wouldn't really know about that, as I've never been in any "BNP, National Front, Combat 18 favoured haunts". However, I would suggest that when most pubs display the Union Flag, it is a simple gesture of national allegiance...nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry Rosebud but the idea of AccyWeb being supporters of the BNP probably got people on the defensive. We've just had one person hell bent on winding the members up into a frenzy and it probably began to look a little like deja vu.

Genuinely not trying to purposely wind anyone up but genuinely think the above comment is naieve. Also I get that you are suggesting that as I know what the inside of a racist haunt looks like I must patronise these establishments. In reality I dont but I do read quite a lot and watch TV as well and as a result know the preferred decor of these places.
I also know what a dinosaur looks like but have never actually seen one.

Actually I have been in a Nazi pub in Croydon and at the time didn't notice any union flags in evidence (Garinda if you are reading this thread it was the Ship) I only realized when I got to the bar I was being seriously stared at and suddenly noticed that it was because of my (now not then) ex wife who is black.

I then noticed a couple of members of Skrewdriver at the bar.

I quickly made an exit.

What's wrong with the possibility that Accyites of all shades and ethnicities might not actually be proud of being Accyites and British anyway? I have some brown skinned friends who are quite proud of their Britishness.

Don't undertsand the word 'troll' in this context please explain. I do however understand the 'out and out moron' comment- why the need to be offensive and aggressive? Is debate or discussion not achievable in a more restrained manner?
