Funny really, despite working in a strict Muslim, I must have only seen 2 or 3 women. in full Veil or Burka.
Makes a change to come home to it on every street.

How is it "left wing drivel" to appreciate the role of our allies in the war?

Every thing you write on here is left wing drivel, or left wing orientate aimed at trying very poorly to score political points, end of story

It isn't ... but most seem to be kissing the asses of our former enemies - you know, those wonderful folks who brought us the Blitz and Auschwitz - and this tends to make them forget the actions those who were our allies.

Not quite following your's and Mancie's line of argument. There seems to be some sort of rule that EU citizens from other countries (not just Poles) can claim child benefit for children who are not over here with them, but are in their country of origin. Because Polish airmen and others fought side-by-side with us in WW2, we should accept this? Can't see the logic in that.

Apparently, banning it would be un-British according to Damian Green, the immigration minister.

This country spends a fortune on what it terms 'community cohesion' and yet the burqa is probably about as blatant a statement as it gets that there are pockets of society who have no intention of ever integrating with the British way of life.

Considering that a peck on the cheek would earn you 40 lashes in some Middle Eastern countries it would only seem respectful to adhere to the culture of whatever country you happen to live in, be it Pakistan or England.

I've just spent some little time working in France and my attempt to communicate in French went down a lot better than an opening gambit of 'Do you speak English?' which I heard a bit too regularly from other British visitors.

A bit of respect for native customs works wonders but ramming cultures together and expecting them to mix until we're all the same is about as likely as homogenised oil and water.

The Trouble with GB Ken is that its nothing like any other country, in this country there are groups of people who think we should put foreigners first and GB citizens a poor second and are quite ready to fight for their rights though the courts and on legal aid to boot, this doesn't happen in any oher country but good old GB, so its no surprise when GB governments of any colour tread very carefully when it comes to things concerning Human Rights
