I've got a Restoration Party to go to.

350th Anniversary of the Crowning of Charles II, 23rd April 1661; the bash is on the Royal wedding day. Big buxomed serving wenches, lots of slap 'n tickle, etc.

You stick with your Cromwellian Puritism; no fun, no games, no nowt.

Excellent.

I suppose that's part of the calendar of royal wedding celebrations in Tower Hamlets, funded by your council's £240,000.00?

Please link the full list from THBC, for anyone up here who think our council haven't pushed the boat out far enough, and who might be tempted to join in the fun down there.

I keep asking, but am met with silence.

It's almost as if there isn't an east London council with a near quarter of a million quid budget, and in fact sod all is planned, to celebrate this historic occasion.

Shameful.

This has nowt to do with THBC - its a private do.

You post the link on here from HBC with details of their spending, then I'll post mine. You started this thread, so put the HBC money where your posts are.

Until then, I'm doing nowt.

Are you able to read?

I'll try again.

In the link I helpfully provided, it was minuted that the Leader of the Council was asked what H.B.C.'s budget was for these celebratons, though his answer wasn't.

Therefore we don't know.

Though since we now know the cost to the public purse, to hire a Glee tribute act was £6,000.00, to turn on the Christmas lights, some people are in fear that any money spent in Hyndburn, will be too much.

It doesn't show much respect from us towards the happy couple, who have called their wedding an 'austerity' marriage, mindful of the draconian cuts in public services, and have asked for celebrations to be pared back.

So, your council's stated £240,000.00 budget, and programme of events that are planned, could we possibly have a link to the source of the information please?

But you did do something, didn't you?

You stated your own Council, London's Tower Hamlets Borough Council, had a £240,000.00 budget, to celebrate the royal wedding.

That's much more than 'nowt'.

So, where is the link to the source of that interesting information....?

I can read - can you?

You've made a statement about HBC spending on the Royal Wedding. But you don't know how much it is. Is it £20, £2000, or £20000pds?

Until you do know, shut up and don't criticise or question others, when in the best of faith, they put their numbers on line.

Look for them yourself; I would respectfully suggest, that if you can't find 'em, you get yourself a new computer or at least change your search engine.

I have looked.

Sadly I couldn't find the translate into English option, on the Tower Hamlets Borough Council's website.

So Hyndburn wouldn't be on their own if they decided to shelve all the celebrations that would cost us money then!

I do not care about the celebrations that people fund for themselves....that is their choice(and their money)....but I do care about the money which I contribute through local taxes, being squandered on something like this.

I would rather see the money used on things that will benefit the whole borough.....and as for bringing in trade:tongueout.......codswallop!

There is only PB who can afford to spend anything.

I was in Manchester yesterday at a meeting of Labour Group members from all over Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside. I asked several of the people who were there, what there local authority was doing to celebrate the Royal Wedding. No other authority appears to be arranging any civic celebrations.
After reading Jen links to Rossendale website -a Day out with Thomas - sounds much more exciting.
