Lucy Jones sums it up rather nicely in the Telegraph.

Royal wedding: The welcome death of the fascinator – Telegraph Blogs

Anyway, enough about what's hot, and what's not in the world of tit for tats...

It would still be nice to hear from anyone who took advantage of Hyndburn's civic celebrations in the Market Hall yesterday.

Anyone?

Fifteen thousand.

Surely someone got our money's worth?

a lot of brides lose weight on the run up to the big day......my sister lost a stone, without trying....her dress had to be taken in about three times.......she made up for it after the wedding...put it all back on and a bit more besides.......she will clock up 25 years next month.....she is thinking of getting married all over again just to lose the stone :D:D

Shaz, she says the only way she would lose a stone now would be to get her leg fast in a revolving door....she's at that 'funny' age. :D

It was mentioned in one of the council's press releases, printed in the paper, that the celebrations would be 'centered around the Market Hall'.

Interested now, as to where the money was spent.

A bit of bunting, and the rest up in smoke?

Must be the Observer.

I don't buy the Telegraph, unless I read it there online.

Can't be bothered to search for it at the moment.

Though I will if I'm taken to court for spreading misinformation.

:D

I'm sure someone will correct me if I've remembered incorrectly.

That was the official total cost I was told. Somehow, the cynic in me is still a non-believer.

There was the Freedom of the Borough ceremony yesterday and I've never found it so easy to drive into Accrington on a Saturday morning so I'm assuming that it didn't lure thousands of people from their homes.

For all those who weren't in the public gallery yesterday:

As far as Friday was concerned, I spent the whole day in Rishton visiting street parties, touring the local alehouses and having a singalong by the piano at The People's Centre. Rishton Towers was decked out with flags and bunting and we had a houseful of friends over for a knees up.

It's not for everyone but the BBC put on an excellent broadcast and I had a thoroughly patriotic time of it.

The only decent thing the BBC put on was Snooker on the red button all day:D

John you must be a canny lad then, because although I tried my best to avoid it(see my blog) I still managed to catch a glimpse or two......involuntarily.

And there was no chance of avoiding it yesterday either......it was on the front of all the papers.....so I would have to have walked round all day with my eyes shut to miss it....Not a safe plan!

Well Margaret, Hand on heart I didn't see even a glimpse, not even on Saturday, because I knew it would still be wall to wall so never watched the news or got a paper:)
