Just been with Miles tonight. Pulling together is a key theme. Greg criticised George and then Peter. Our ambition is team work for the place we want to leave in a better condition than we found it.

Had a long discussion about implementing what we promised. About the many issues and problems left to us. About the hundreds of small changes, about each ward. About the long term view. About the options that Labour councillors will have to consider.

All in all a lot of simple changes will be brought in to save money, drive out inefficiency and most of all be more customer/resident friendly. We will also take a big picture view to jobs, employment, housing, cleansing, waste and visual blight.

It is an exciting time.

One of the immediate big issues is Clr Britcliffe who promised £5.2m of spending to various groups/organisations and there is only £2m available and the council owes nearly £10m. There's been a lot of reckless spending commitments with no rationale and we need to stop all council spending and review the value/worth.

Spending other people's money has been all to easy in the past.

fester obviously knew that he was going to be booted out and 'spent' this non existant money on purpose knowing full well that Labour would be seen as being the bad guys for not being able to come up with the goods (not being able to get blood from a stone and all that)

Its gonna be hard Graham but carry on like you are doing, being honest and letting everyone know exactly what is happening. It's the best way.

It wont surprise anybody I dont think what fester has done.
