Rishton is one massive area, the biggest single ward in Hyndburn and has three councillors. Ossy is split into three wards with two councillors in each but generally it is down to each ward's members to canvass their own patch.

To be blunt, canvassing for your next election should start the day after you get in.

Although technically control of the council can shift 3 times in 4 years, I think Jay was more on about the makeup of the council not being the same for more than 12 months. Some of the councillors at the moment don't seem to actually make much of a contribution until elections loom, it's a way of keeping us on our toes.

I, on the other hand, cannot be silenced. I think it's badly wound up at least two elected members.

No councillor seats up for grabs in my ward.

Will drag my sorry arse to the polling station, to vote NO to AV.

Good luck to any Accy Webber councillors who are up for re-election.

Ken Moss would get my vote, irrespective of which party he was representing.

As would Bernard, Claytonender, or Judith Addison.

Local politics should be about people, not national party politics.

(Ken would only not get my vote if he speaking in tongues, and was standing under the Loony Logan banner.)

:D

Stop being so bashful, and too afraid of speaking what's on your mind.

;)

Why, are you up for leader of the local party?

I need to watch that, holding my tongue when a few well-chosen words could have got my point across in an erudite, forthright and incisive way.

If only I'd stood up for myself a bit sooner....

No, I'll leave that to Miles Parkinson, someone infinitely better suited to the position than I am.

I'm looking forward to continuing my crusade against wasteful spending though.

Whoops, not forgetting another Accy Web member Wendybd.

Wendy Dwyer, who inspires me to be better.

A better what, remains to be seen.

Rev Kev not do it for you then? Something less preachy for sir?

Red Ken (as I understand I am referred to, amongst other names) will start delivering a non-sectarian Monday Monologue in the annals of Kenweb so that your void can be filled with an alternative and more palatable rhetoric.

Or perhaps not.

I could just get on with improving the borough, that do you?

Out of interest I have just looked at the Hyndburn website to see who the candidates up for election were.
This info will fit on an A4 page but it will take you 20 minutes to go through each individual ward. Why?

A classic local government administration technique. They make it as complicated as possible to give the impression they are doing an important job. That way they can justify their staffing levels.

I spent 30 years doing it.
