Re: News of the World Mobile Phone Hacking

One of the MP's on the Commons select committee investigating the phone hacking, MP Tom Watson has now announced that he is going to write a book it. I think he should stand down as it is a conflict of interest. I wondered why he was being so vocal on TV, in the press and on twitter. Can't help wondering if he is trying to sensationalise the story a bit more for his book now. Other MP's are really trying to uncover what has gone on.

A Guardian reporter has also announced a book which is ok because he is not investigating the scandal for Parliament.

Hugh Grant was a celebrity victim of phone hacking and he even wears a wire to record a conversation with a former News Of The World journalist who admitted to hacking people's phones.
That's right, the guy who got car head from an LA prostitute is now the moral compass of the nation.

Spare us!

I'm in the flat at the moment, with t'telly on the the background.

It's tuned to Channel 15, the film channel (freeview).

The piccy that's just started is 'Gallipoli', starring that anti-semetic, racist, drunken anal hole Gibson.

What I didn't realise until now is that the producer - the man who put the money up - for this piece of anti-British hatred propaganda is none other than Rupert Murdoch.

Why didn't we just sling the bastard in the tower when we had the chance?

Can hardly blame the Aussies being upset , if I remember correctly this (the Dardenelles campaign/fiasco) was one of Churchills ideas , think this was the reason he was sacked from the Admiralty/Cabinet ;)

You can ship the criminal classes out of Britain, but some flotsam will always wash back ashore.

There was nowt wrong with the Dardanells idea; as a way of breaking the stalemate on the Western Front it was the best move until the tactical applications of coordinated tank/airpower/artillary of 1918. If Churchill has to be criticised over Turkey, then the criticism should lie in his decision to sieze the two Turkish warships lying in British ship yards which begat Turkey's entry into WW1.

Forget the whingeing antipodeans; if they, togeather with the Royal Navy, the old trawler captains, and some battalions of the British army had been prepared to advance against the enemy as much as some of their colleagues in France & Belgium had been in 1916/17, then the war would have been over far earlier, and the rest as they say, would be history - minus Hitler

Oh..by the way...before any of you monitors start getting up shirty about thread wander, please remember that Rupert Murdoch inherited his money and power from his dad, who in turn had made his wealth from blatant lies about the British effort in the Dardanelles.

Not legally there isn't. The same crime was committed in both cases and should have been sorted out by the police when it came out years ago.

I have heard a few opinions about there being a difference morally or not as well but its the legal issue that should be the focus in my opinion.

Funny how the police did not think it much of an issue until the public did.
