They have already been practising - any excuse to get the helicopter out!

They had a trial run apparently last week on a rainy day in Accy center with a look-a-like;):D:eek:

Might I suggest "We luv Queenie" as a suitable slogan -or how about something more retro, a giant safety pin and "God Save the Queen" for all Accy's aging punks;)

Apparently someones started a campaign to get "God Save the Queen" back in the chart but it seems Johnny don't like it.

John Lydon rejects 'God Save The Queen' no.1 campaign THE SOUND

Most of the kids probably wouldn't have reached your level of cynicism as yet, maybe as they get older perhaps they'll get there. But when Ol' Liz turns to, it'll be a day off school, with some flags to waggle, allowed to make as much noise as they like & wave at some old dear going down the street, there may even be jelly & Ice cream. :)

Sounds like a winner to me.

To be honest I think most kids especially the younger ones would want to go and see Her Maj, after all its the only time I've ever seen her when I was a school kid

Only saw her once myself Jay -coming off the royal yacht, Brittania in Falmouth when i was on holiday there, I was 14 at the time!

I know all the children in my God-daughter's school in Rishton have made and sent Diamond jubilee cards to the Queen -wonder who'll be opening them all!:D I expect they'll be going on the day to line the route...like you say it's something exciting for them, a one off!

I remember seeing her in Accy, probably the same time as you Jay, and a few times in Arundel in the fifties when we visited my grandad who lived there. She used to come and stay at Arundel castle for some event, not sure quite what but it involved a cricket match. Also saw her in Portsmouth once when I worked there.

I met Prince Charles just before his marriage when I was working as an archaeological conservator at the Mary Rose Trust of which he was patron - pic proof below! I am a fan of his, I know he likes his privileges but why not, he also does much good work. I hated the saintly Diana and her cult and I'm glad he's been allowed to find happiness with Camilla. I'm also glad that his children and the other young royals have turned out to be so level headed.

It's good that the school children are making cards etc, nice that they are made aware of the country's heritage and traditions and hopefully learning some respect. I reckon if push came to shove most folks would prefer royalty to a republic - imagine having to vote for a head of state every few years!

Precisely kids don't have a clue what Royalty are - they are brainwashed by the media circus that presents them as pop-stars or celebrities which is why the Punk statment "God Save the Queen" was an important event. :D

I got a good view of the Queen and her hubbie back in 2005 in St James Pk as they went passed in their motor - the crowds had thined out on her way back. Also I went to Buckingham Palace and shook hands with Prince Edward.

Charly's coming? Too bad, that's a good enough reason to stay away, hope he doesn't bring his donkey with him.
